Our family of 14 from the US stayed at the Hotel Neri for our Christmas and New Years for two weeks. We are grandparents with three families including grandchildren ages 19, 17,:17, 16, 15 and 11. We try to take family trips but this was the first one where we stayed in a hotel in a city. The ages of our grandchildren and time of year made this trip a good idea. We picked Barcelona a little by chance, other than my family has really wanted to go to Spain. It could not have been more perfect. We’ve stayed in Relais Chateaux many times because I love a small hotel.-this hotel has 22 rooms and we had seven of them. The attention that I got in planning our trip- from restaurant help, cooking classes, where our rooms were situated in the hotel and excellent communication with the staff. Once, we arrived the trip was even better. We really felt like the lovely, beautifully decorated for Christmas hotel was beyond special. The staff were such fun and the hotel became home for us. Barcelona is a spectacular city and felt very safe. Our older teenagers would go out after late dinners together and this was a very different experience from anything they do in the US. All three families went off to various cities by train for 3 nights from Dec. 27-30 and then gathered again on the 30th for New Years. Both on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve our family had a private dinner in the library, which was very special, and I was able to decorate the table for our family. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for the full 14 days and we would play dominoes in the library or bar every afternoon-which says how much like home the hotel became. I just can’t say enough about the staff and how special this hotel is. |Plus, unlike most hotel breakfasts, this hotel has an individualized tray for 2 people-fresh squeezed orange juice, pastries, and fresh sliced fruit-and then everyone can order off the menu some extras. This was great for everyone...

Stayed for 2 exceptional nights and were quite sad to be leaving this oasis. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and welcomed with a glass of cava to enjoy while checking in. The staff was by far the most friendly and easy to work with I have ever encountered and were always excited to interact with and eager to help. Of special note was Thomas who not only acquainted us with our room but saw us later on leaving to see the city (and clearly looking lost) and took it upon himself to introduce us and show us around at a local restaurant nearby.

The room was perfect with a cozy amount of room for two and all the amenities one could hope for. A comfortable bed, luxury features (try the towel warmer), fantastic soaps, spacious shower, and quaint balcony were all integrated well giving this historic quarter a welcomed modern feel. A complimentary bottle of local wine was waiting for us upon arrival as well.

The location of this hotel is beyond compare and you will be glad to see so many of the famous Barcelona sights within easy walking distance. Express interest in venturing further and the staff is more than willing to help in any way possible to include taxi/train questions.

Now for the restaurant. Located downstairs, this culinary getaway will rival any other gastronomic destination this city has to offer. Ensure you don’t make the same mistake as us by eating here early in your stay. We ate on the last evening and were sad to not have another night to try more menu options. Truly a highlight of our time in Barcelona.

I could go on and on, but rather than waste your precious time reading about my experience I encourage you to book this hotel and base your own adventure here - you will not be disappointed.

Thank you again to the staff of Hotel Neri for making my stay in Barcelona...

I come to Barcelona often and a few years ago, I felt the staff didn't seem to care, so I stayed elsewhere. This time, I thought I'd give Neri another try - and I'll never stray again! The rooms remain lovely. The ambiance calming and elegant. But a major draw are two outstanding staff members. One is Thomas. The other is Ioann. Thomas greets you when you first walk in with warmth and enthusiasm of a dear friend. He is a bright spark, a man with true charisma who brightens up your stay with his every care and intuitive sense of when to reach out and when to stand back. (I was exhausted and he made a point of running me around the corner to what he described as the best local place for a pick me up). Then there is Ioann at the front desk. He is extraordinary! He is filled with compassion and care. Ioann extended himself in ways that I've never seen, even at the many Relais & Chateau's I've stayed in. One day I had spent the day walking and was too exhausted to get to the restaurant where he'd made a reservation for me. He politely canceled the reservation and then ran out to accompany me to a close by place where he spoke to the owner and quickly found me a table. I'd also been looking to buy a certain article of clothing and couldn't figure out where to find it. He told me he was walking around and found a store which had it and directed me to it. I also had a small problem with a room and was ambivalent about whether to make a fuss or just live with it. He told me I shouldn't be uncomfortable in any way and changed my room immediately. Each day I walked in, he greeted me with just the right level of personal attention. When I left, I felt like giving him a big hug. He represents all that is great about Hotel Neri - personal service...

We just returned from a 7-night stay at Hotel Neri in Barcelona. Nestled in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, this boutique hotel is a true gem, combining historic charm with modern luxury, which was perfect for our family of 4. We stayed in the Apartment Suite, located just steps from the main hotel building, which was ideal for travelling with two kids. The suite was spacious. It had a well-equipped kitchenette, a living area and a separate bedroom. The rooftop pool was also a hit with the kids, and helped us cool down during the hot days. Location wise, Hotel Neri couldn't be a better choice. We were able to easily walk to most major attractions, including La Rambla, the Cathedral, Ciutadella Park and Barceloneta Beach. Despite being in the middle of the bustling Gothic Quarter, the suite was always quiet and peaceful. It was so nice to just walk around and visit all the wonderful shops and try all the delicious food while enjoying the beautiful architecture. The service at Hotel Neri was consistently warm and attentive. Everyone made us feel welcome and helped with everything we needed. Thomas was amazing! We also had breakfast and dinner at the hotel's a Restaurant, which was exceptional. Overall, staying at Hotel Neri was a key part of what made our trip to Barcelona so memorable. We’ll absolutely return and recommend it wholeheartedly to any family looking for a sophisticated, comfortable, and well-located place to stay in Barcelona.

We stayed for 2 nights and were quite disappointed with the overall value for money. The price was truly excessive considering the real standard of the hotel. The room was underwhelmingand the bathroom smelled of mold. Even worse, the electric wires of the towel heater were exposed clearly a safety hazard and not acceptable in any hotel, let alone one in this price range. On a more positive note, breakfast was excellent. A special mention to the young waiter who was impeccable, respectful and very professional. Unfortunately, the rest of the breakfast staff lacked courtesy. What upset us the most was the behavior of a staff member as we were walking from the restaurant area towards the reception before departure. We were with our baby, who had been crying and needed to eat his own food. We had simply asked to have it warmed up. As we were leaving, the staff member made inappropriate comments about us to his colleagues thinking we didn’t understand Spanish which we do. The hotel is clearly not baby-friendly, both in terms of attitude and accommodation. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable during our stay. This is far from what one expects from this hotel. Fortunately, we were just about to leave otherwise, I might have had to remind that guy of the basics of respect and hospitality which he clearly hadn’t learned at home or in this hotel.

Amazing hotel, magnificent property, located in the very heart of Barcelona's Old City, Barri Gòtic. Everything in Barri Gòtic, La Ribera (El Born) is within a short walking distance, anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes' walk. Great terrace room, room 305, the corner room featuring an oversized L-shaped balcony, complete with patio furniture and hot tub. The terrace also offers a higher wooden fence which serves as a privacy screen. You have to pack light or you will have to ask the reception for extra hangers, for the hotel room closet is not very accommodating. The lobby is a fine example of Catalan Gothic style smartly converted into modern chic filled with artistic creativity. The hotel's restaurant "a", helmed by the celebrated Chef Alain Guiard, offers excellent food, we can't recommend it high enough. Since the hotel is located in the Barri Gòtic pedestrian area, there are two options; first is the hotel's car service that drops you off within two-minutes' walk from the hotel, or alternatively we have noticed a city taxi parked (somehow) right in front of the hotel's entrance. Even if you are dropped a street away from the hotel, fear not, for your driver will help you to get your suitcases right into Hotel Neri's lobby. All in all, a superb hotel, on par with other distinguished properties Relais et Châteaux is so famous of.
