I've been to the bar several times before, I actually really liked the selection of craft beers and good choice of music. Today I had an appalling experience, that even taking into account that Barcelona is not the place in terms of service, was beyond common sense. I was chatting at the bar with a friend, sipping a beer served by a nice and friendly bartender. While I was telling my friend a story at some point I realized I couldn’t hear my own voice, and the reason was that two ladies who also worked at the bar arrived, and were talking in such a loud voice to each other that it made the whole thing very uncomfortable. I wanted to change the place since there were some tables available, before I decided to pick another pint. And that was the moment I realized I couldn’t even find a moment when they stop talking to each other. So I decided to ask for it anyways, and when I did one of them told me I didn’t have to raise my voice, cuz they were kind of in a process of discussing something important. Excuse me???!!!!! First of all you are being so unprofessional discussing your personal problems, second you are so loud you are making customers uncomfortable, third you are telling your customer what they should and shouldn’t do and telling them of for making the order???!!! I know it’s August and it’s difficult to find personnel, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to conform to rude, ill-mannered staff, cuz they give a really bad image to the bar which will last off season too. Instead of having dinner and more drinks we left, of course. I think it’s the first time I give one star in reviews, but honestly, it was a dreadful and very uncomfortable...
Read moreBeing a local to the area I had heard quite a lot about the Craft... not always positive I must say but I am one to judge out of my own experiences and not by what or how others might of perceived their experience. So here we were outside craft looking for an exciting night for the "Open Mic" we thought we were attending.
How wrong were we? There as no open mic, instead they had a bunch of friends singing without any type of organisation (the singing was awful!!!!!) the food was some of the worse food I have eaten in Barcelona, having lived here for over 17 years I didn't even know there could be such bad quality ham around. Seriously guys where do you buy your ham??????!!!! you need to have a word with your supplier or at least try the products you sale! I will not comment on the beer as that might of just been my bad choice for trying to be adventurous.
Regarding the establishment, we felt it smelled of dump, it wasn't particularly clean (we managed to track down a few cockroaches having the time of their live!) and had to return 2 drinks due the old food stuck on the rim of the glass from previous customers.
The bar staff were great and friendly, however the gent who (we must assume is an owner or some type of leadership individual in the organisation) was rude, extremely vocal about covid and those individuals who might not have the same outlook on the current nature of events as him. This made us feel uncomfortable as a lack of empathy is always alarming.
Overall we did not feel welcome and we will not be returning there. if you are in the are we urge to AVOID this place at all cost. They do not deserve genuine and...
Read moreCraft Barcelona is a very special place. It is a traditional beer bar settled just next to Barcelona's Main Hall, on a hidden alley. I must say the staff are really nice and very attentive, even though they are sometimes a little overwhelmed by the number of orders. Nevertheless, this is compensated by the really good mood and energy of the people working at Craft, which is something most customers end up talking about.
Craft offers live music and comedy shows every day, so the price you pay already includes the show and it is still unexpensive. Regarding the music shows, Craft offers a surprising, wonderful, music experience that makes the visit very much worth it. FYI, Alex Bedford, one of the musicians playing permanently at Craft, happens to be a really good composer and performer. Moreover, he knows many GREAT musicians in Barcelona, so it's likely for you to end up listening to really good music there.
NB: If you happen to be a musician, you must know they offer you a beer for free if you participate in their Open Mics.
The only drawback I see, and for which I don't give Craft 5 stars is the food, as there is little variety and the quality is just enough for you to have something to eat while enjoying the show. There's little offer for veggies and for those who'd like to have something relatively healthy with one of their selected brews, which are their most valuable assets together with the shows. In any case, the Craft Barcelona experience is totally...
