URIBOU — Restaurant in Barcelona

As always, an extraordinary experience.

We did the "long" menu (65€ per person) and were again amazed at the seamless combination of local products with japanese-style cuisine, presentation and overall tradition. I personally really enjoyed the eel flan, but everything was tasty and special in some way.

By far, the experience shines through its attentive service, which is achieved thanks to the perfect coordination of the three family members running the restaurant. The chef would often come talk to us and explain details about a selected number of dishes, while the rest was mostly covered by his lovely and cheerful wife. She was so good at introducing each dish that I could have eaten absolutely anything anyone placed in front of me without a second thought.

The food itself is all locally sourced and with a special focus on healthy products. One of us has allergies that usually prevent them to enjoy closed menus like this one, but the restaurant was extremely accomodating, not simply removing ingredients or dishes but replacing them with other alternatives instead.

Truly a unique gem of a place, serving up a well thought out approach to japanese food in a Mediterranean context. The food is not only conceptually compelling, but the execution is excellent. Service was personal and attentive, explaining not just what the dishes were, but also the thought that went into their construction, all the way down to the exact origin of most of the ingredients. The sake selection was also excellent and they were ready with recommendations to suit our tastes. We really enjoyed our time at this restaurant, which was a standout in our visit to Barcelona. Our dinner at Uribou was definitely the highlight of our trip to Barcelona, it was so wonderful that we returned again the next day. Special thanks to Chef Takata-san, he used fresh ingredients in season and introduced all the beautiful dishes to us, the sake pairing with the scrumptious cuisine were out of the world!
