Restaurant Turandot in Begur is one of those places that became an instant favorite, offering an exceptional dining experience that left me very impressed.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, making you feel at home from the moment you step in. Lucas and Cele, the owners and chef, were incredibly hospitable and made our visit memorable. Their passion for creating unforgettable experiences and their dedication to their craft are evident in every aspect of the restaurant.
My favorite dish was the Filete de Ternera de Gerona, Colmenillas, Foie, Milhojas de Mostaza – one of the best I’ve ever had. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the presentation was on point, and the quality of the ingredients was top-notch. In fact, the dish was so outstanding that I returned a few days later just to enjoy it again.
The restaurant embraces a philosophy of proximity and seasonality, ensuring that every dish is fresh and varied, respecting local products and the land. This commitment to quality without pretension makes dining here truly special.
The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff, especially Dorina, who made sure everything was perfect. The attention to detail and passion for their craft were evident in every aspect of the meal.
After such a wonderful dining experience, we ended up spending the next few days at their chiringuito, La Gandula, at Platja de Sa Riera, which was equally delightful.
If you’re in Begur, Restaurant Turandot is a must-visit. The combination of exceptional food, warm hospitality, and a charming atmosphere makes it a standout dining destination. Don’t miss the Filete de Ternera de Gerona – it’s a culinary experience you...
Read moreUnfortunately we had no luck with our dishes. The starter was pretty tasty on my side. The scallop ordered by my mom was extremely salty unfortunately. So far so good.
Then unfortunately I made the mistake and ordered the “traditional veal dish”, and honestly it was not tasty at all. I would probably offer it with a disclaimer, given that it’s a regional specialty. So in any case i don’t want to disrespect the tradition. I simply find it hard to believe that any tourist would enjoy this dish. Just pure veal fat without any sort of taste. Would definitely never order that dish again and it really ruined my whole experience at this place. My mom had the noodles with the beef in it, which was okay, but far from being “haute cuisine” either. Overall we were deeply disappointed by the mains and the selection, as it looked so promising, but then didn’t meet our standards or expectations.
Now the positives:
Both servers were very kind, efficient and checked in on us regularly and even offered my dog a bowl of water within 3 min of us getting there. Additionally the food came pretty quickly. Thank you again for that!
The white vine was super tasty and only cost 4€ per glass. Impressive. Highly recommend!
The bread was very tasty and had the perfect "croustillant” as we say in France.
Can highly recommend the desserts as we had the apple crumble and the baba. Both were really great.
Maybe other dishes would have been the better option for us, but unfortunately our...
Read moreAt the end of our meal you asked me how things were and I gave feedback only for a debate to ensue.
Learn to take feedback from paying customers instead of trying to win a point because is not ok to tell customers that next time we go to a restaurant “we should ask the waiter to give us new glasses for a second round of drinks”.
The best are willing to learn from the feedback they receive, sadly your attitude was more about arguing back and teaching customers how we should specify things which are the norm in this industry. Not to mention the waiter trying to reuse an ice that fell on the table instead of discarding it .
I expect a reply to this review with another customer lesson showing once again the pettiness of trying to win an argument over wanting to improve.
I’ll give you two starts because the starters were good but my main was much below par; you told me I should’ve asked for it to be changed but I doubt it would’ve been an argument free endeavour after so much debating for a small round of vermuts to which you only agreed to replace 1 as some kind of concession.
This restaurant was the only one which disappointed us during our week long trip so I’m sure anyone reading this review can find a better experience...
