Reseña: Una experiencia insólita en un restaurante que solía ser nuestro favorito

Llevamos años yendo a este restaurante, ya sea mi hija de 7 años y yo o en celebraciones familiares con un grupo numeroso. Siempre hemos recibido un trato impecable, razón por la cual hemos vuelto una y otra vez. Sin embargo, ayer vivimos la experiencia más surrealista y desagradable que me ha pasado en un restaurante.

Fuimos a celebrar el 8.º cumpleaños de mi hija, como siempre, en familia. Éramos 12 personas, las que solemos ir. Al terminar, pagamos la cuenta y nos marchamos. Todo parecía normal hasta que, pasadas las 10 de la noche, recibí varias llamadas insistentes de un número desconocido. Al contestar, era Óscar, el gerente, quien comenzó diciendo que ya “le habían contado lo que pasó” y que “habían revisado las cámaras”. Acto seguido, me acusó de algo tan ridículo como ofensivo: intentamos irnos sin pagar, según él.

Intenté entender de qué hablaba, pensando que debía haber algún malentendido. Sin embargo, su respuesta fue más surrealista aún: “Hemos visto en las cámaras cómo su tía se guardaba el dinero de la cuenta en el bolso”. Lo que en realidad ocurrió fue que hicimos las cuentas entre nosotros, cada persona dio su parte, y mi tía pagó todo con tarjeta, como solemos hacer. Según Óscar, esto fue sospechoso y en su mente, aunque pagamos, intentamos irnos sin hacerlo.

Lo que más me alucina es que la llamada no fue porque nos hubiéramos ido sin pagar, sino porque, según él, “lo intentamos”. Recibir una acusación tan grave y sin fundamento, especialmente después de años de confianza y fidelidad al restaurante, es algo que jamás olvidaré.

No solo han perdido a una familia que siempre recomendaba este lugar, sino que se han ganado el rechazo más absoluto. Un gerente que hace acusaciones sin pruebas y con tal nivel de falta de profesionalidad no merece representar un negocio que alguna vez fue especial para...

We arrived in Bilbao just before 11 pm and hadn't eaten. We headed out after realizing the restaurant hotel was closing. Baden Baden welcomed us. Told us they'd keep the kitchen open for us just as they were singing Happy Birthday to a group celebrating a milestone birthday. The wait staff were welcoming and attentive. The fritura included flavorful red bell peppers, onion rings, croquetas, Calamari rings and strips. We had a scrumptious green salad with white asparagus. We ordered a traditional Clara and one with Limon. Everything was good but the wait staff and the atmosphere...

We didn't eat most of the meals we ordered as the chicken tasted like fish, and everything was dripping with oil. Bilbao is a lovely city, and even though it's not the gastronomic capital, this restaurant is the worst we have experienced in the city. It's better to grab some food to go from a grocery store. We were wondering if our experience was poor because we don't speak Catalan, as we felt a difference when they noticed we were speaking English.
