Bar at Guggenheim Museum Bilbao — Restaurant in Bilbao

We had a terrible experience at this place. We thought we could have a nice sandwich and drink here after our museum tour, but they told us the kitchen was closed. Annoying, but it happens. Then we ordered some small Pintxos which were okay, not special. But throughout the entirety of our visit the service was absolutely terrible. The staff were for some reason very agitated towards us, and when we asked to pay it took a very very long time. When we asked again (while they were just standing there and having a laugh with each other) they told us to wait, very aggressively, and that the bill would come but they were having an “issue” they needed to sort out first. When we raised our hand (normally we don’t in restaurants but we had no other option) they signed us back to our place and waved us to wait, again very agitated and belittling. If you are a celiac person, be really careful here. They do have gluten free options but keep them within the same vitrine as the other gluteny tapas. When asked whether they could guarantee no cross contamination they first guaranteed food was 100% safe, but after asking them how this is possible if they keep bread a few inches away from the gluten free dishes they said then they could not guarantee food safety for celiacs... so why do they offer gluten free dishes then? They were the kind who try to explain to a celiac person what celiac disease is or what amount of gluten is toxic in their opinion, proving they had not much of a clue... the place is really nice and they do make an effort to have a couple of gluten free foods, it is a shame they are not well-trained in terms of...

Not good value for money

My husband’s croquetas at 12 euros were so soggy and falling apart he had to send them back. My brother’s chicken salad had an excessively fishy dressing (not the usual level for a Caesar salad) and was also unwashed and very grainy with dirt.
