Try it while you still can get a table without booking weeks in advance. The overall ambiance is fantastic with great views of the bay. However, like many small restaurants by the water, you don’t come for the food, you come for the tranquil experience and breathtaking views and La Sardina doesn’t disappoint. We had the burger (after two weeks of tapas in Spain, don’t judge us). To our surprise it truly is a “smash burger” with cheese and lettuce, a la Big Mac. The paddy was fried to perfection with a nice crust, but was not seasoned enough. It definitely needed more salt. Cheese had melted nicely and the bread was soft tasted great. Now here comes the big BUT, the burger dressing on the burger is seasoned with “pimenton”, the Spanish smoked paprika spice. I really don’t like this and unfortunately Spanish people love to add this to all their sauces. As I believe it has a too strong flavour, the only thing I could taste (on an otherwise well executed burger) was the pimenton. So my recommendation is try La Sardina, you will not be disappointed. If you don’t like pimenton, ask for the dressing of the burger on the side. And don’t forget, prices are high, don’t expect anything else. If you think it’s too expensive, you will think everything is expensive and don’t eat in...
Read moreService is painfully slow and inattentive. I asked how many sardines were in the portion on sale at €22. I was told 12, so my friend and I decided to share a portion. 30 minutes later, we were brought a plate of 5 small sardines. I asked the waiter if more were coming and he said they there were not adding that the kitchen had served us 6 as the sardines were unusually large. They were not. And there were not 6; just 5. We asked for a large bottle of sparkling water the type of which we saw the diners on the next table having and were inexplicably told that was not available to us as there were only 4 at our table. I therefore asked for a small water, which never came but still found it’s way onto the bill. When we asked for a corrected bill for our accounts, they simply crossed out the total and wrote the new total. They then didn’t return for payment so we had to go and find someone to take our money. On the plus side, the toilet was unusually comfortable. I did a...
Read moreTerrible experience. We came wanting to enjoy paella and some drinks, but the service was rude and unwelcoming from the start. The waitress immediately pressured us to order drinks without even giving us time to check the menu. The menu itself is misleading: the paella price shown is per person, but you only realize later that you must multiply it by two. When we decided to order a simple fish with potatoes instead, the waitress refused, saying it was “only for children under 10 years old.” This makes no sense, especially since the dish is listed openly on the menu without any restrictions. I honestly believe this was not true and that we may have been treated this way simply because of xenophobia. Overall, a disrespectful and...
