Nice views don’t make up for mediocre food and lack of service. We had dinner with four people on Saturday with a total bill of 450 EUR. We all went for a 5-course menu: 3 of us regular, me for the 3-course vegan one. It was no problem for them to extend the vegan menu to 5-courses.
~80% of the tables were occupied and we had a nice view on the sea.
While one waiter was visible happy for us to be there, the other 3 waiters including the owner seemed either not willing to or capable of service on the price level of the dinner: Dirty cutlery was dropped into my friends lap, soup was spilled over my cutlery when poured in by the waiter without replacing it, wine glasses had stains at the bottom, we had to remind staff twice of the bottle of water we ordered, and the salt/pepper we asked for as the food was quite bland was taken away before the main course so we had to ask again for it. Waiters didn‘t fill up empty glasses and didn‘t ask us whether we‘d like to drink more/something else. Some waiters were visibly distant and didn‘t make us feel welcome.
The food was okay (the meat-based menus better than the vegetarian/vegan one) but far from the aspired „innovative, modern kitchen“ advertised. Three courses of my vegetarian menu were below average: The Greece wine leaf with rice in a bland coconut soup didn‘t blend well, one piece of the grilled artichoke tasted like there was gas/petroleum on it and the chocolate Tacho desert had very dense, fatty texture with a hard to put mix of tastes and was just too much on the plate for the texture/density of it. We left feeling disappointed and my stomach didn‘t feel like it had the high-quality ingredients & cooking we...
Read moreThe resturant has amazing views and is nicely fitted out. Unfortunately on our last two visits we have had poor service. We ordered the special soft shell crab as starters which took 50 minutes to arrive, we politely asked the waitress a few times and they were quite rude and dismissive. The crab was lovely but when it arrived was stone cold and we watched it sitting under the lamp in the kitchen for 15 minutes. This was a real shame. We ordered some ice cream for our 2 year old daughter it took 35 mins to arrive and we had to chase them up on it. When it finally arrived we were told off for ordering it twice. Instead of staff apologising for it taking long we were attacked by the waitress! Real shame as the staff let the restaurant down and we are regular visitors but after two poor meals in a row won’t be visiting again. I think it’s better for lunch and the views are great but be warned the service can be slow and staff not the friendliest. As a better alternative I would highly recommend hotel bendinat which is around the corner, has arguably a more beautiful setting and is always reliable when we attend. I would finally add if the management do read this review then the one male staff member was...
Read moreWent for lunch and were informed that it was fully booked. We decided to have a drink at one of the 'drinks only' tables to avoid the scorching afternoon sun. After a beer and a Pimms, which came with complimentary peanuts, we asked the very pleasant waiter if a table would be becoming available anytime soon. A minute or two later he returned to inform us that a reservation had failed to show up and offered us the table.
We're so glad he did as the food was delicious. The set lunch menu was a very reasonable 23€ for 3 courses. I had a lovely bresaola salad, followed by a miso marinated butterfish with quinoa, mango and a lovely foam/sauce. My fiancée had spicy chicken wings (from the tapas menu) which were crispy, warming and served with a perfectly garlicky alliolli. She followed this with a glass noodle and prawn red curry which came with a lovely coconut broth-like sauce. Desserts were a lemon tart with buttermilk ice-cream, and a selection of tropical sorbets.
All in all a beautiful lunch, stunning views of the bay and marina, and very professional yet warm service. Just remember to...
