My partner and I visited Villa Columbus for a week mid July. We had a lovely stay. On arrival we opted for a taxi transfer for ease to Peguera which cost 37 euros. However, soon after arrival discovered the bus stop was about a two minute walk from the hotel with links to both Palma and the airport for five euros per person. So would definitely opt for that next time. The hotel is in a good location, about 20 minutes out of palma. The hotel is a small family run hotel which we really enjoyed as we found the experience a lot more personal and authentic. The pool area is lovely with deck chairs and additional deck chairs situated right next to the main area. We had bed and breakfast included in our stay, and often had dinner there too as it was great value (around 10 euros) and delicious. We especially enjoyed the coffee in the mornings and the special nights in the evenings! ||||The staff at villa Columbus were also very accommodating. We found them very friendly and helpful. Looking after our luggage and also giving good tips for the island. The actual location of the hotel is about a 2 minute walk from a beautiful white sand beach and seafront. We went snorkelling all week as there are lots of little coves and beaches to explore. As well as the beach, it’s right next to the centre of Paguera so just a short walk to all of the shops. Lidl and other bigger supermarkets are also easily walkable just a little further out (10mins or so). We did rent a car for the week as we found it was the only way to explore the whole island. It was 50 euros per day from Autos Custodia. They were great and very close to the hotel. Would definitely recommend car hire as it was the only way to get to the hidden treasures outside of Peguera like Cala d’Or and Cala Deià. Sóller and Sóller port are also definitely worth a visit. ||||The only negative comments I would give of the hotel would be regarding the facilities. The hotel rooms were a little dated, which we didn’t mind massively as it did the job and was good value for money. However, wifi was only available in certain areas of the hotel. The wifi didn’t work In our room so we had to sit by the pool. As well as this, the facilities in the room were quite limited. Only small sachets of shampoo provided and body wash. This didn’t really cover two people. It would be great to see shampoo and conditioner bottles provided. On arrival we were also told that we had to pay an additional fee for the fridge and safe. We weren’t so bothered about the safe but would of loved the fridge to be included as it was extremely hot and great to keep our food and drink cool. The tv also didn’t have a massive range of channel’s but again this didn’t really bother us as we didn’t spend much time In our room watching tv and the shower could do with a slight upgrade. ||||In conclusion we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend/ stay here again. The hotel, staff, location and food were superb with only minor recommendations for...

Read moreStayed here as a family wth two young children in the family room.||||Positives||* Very well located, only 5 min walk into centre of resort, which has lots of shops and nice restaurants and a fantastic beach. Beach great for little ones as very shallow sea and soft sand. 20/25 min from airport.||* Pool area is very well kept and tranquil, in a lovely setting. Some days we had the pool to ourselves and it was the school holidays!||||Negatives||* Extremely basic room and very noisy. The family room was located directly above a road, which was not busy but had recycling bins and service entries to a few hotels. We were woken every morning at 6.30am by a constant stream of either bin men (who came every day), delivery lorries and coaches. This had an impact on our stay as we couldnt keep the kids up too late in the evening as they were woken up early each morning.||Balcony also very unsafe for young children as not enclosed. ||Sheets not cleaned for the whole week stay - this was an extra charge. When paying nearly 200 euro a night, I would have expected clean sheets at least once during the stay. Also no pool towels provided, again an extra charge.||||* Not sure about the previous good reviews for the food. We are foodies and enojy local cuisine. We did not really enjoy the hotel food. There was a massive wasp problem and the breakfast buffet was covered in wasps crawling all over the food. Same limited choice every day, no fresh pastries and only melon as the fresh fruit. Coffee however was very nice. We often grabbed a fresh bakery item from one of the many bakeries in the town as we left breakfast hungry.||We ate at the hotel in the evening twice. The first time was ok, although i ordered seafood pasta and got a pizza! The second (tapas night) was very slow service despite there being only two tables eating (took two hours) and the food was tasteless. Both meals were ruined by the amount of wasps. At one point we counted 20 wasps on our table when we were trying to eat. ||||Overall, I suppose for a 2 star hotel ,the hotel is ok. It certainly has a charm about it and the pool area and surroundings were lovely. We will not however be staying again as it was far too basic and...
