Everything was great until it wasn't. We were first greeted by two members of the check-in staff working on the beach. Both lovely and helpful. The first thing we did when we arrived was to book a table for lunch. We had 3 sunbeds and for a while we enjoyed our bottle of bubbles on the beach. At 1 pm sharp we went to the restaurant and we were sent upstairs, to the tiniest table, even though there were just 2 other occupied tables at the time.
The arrogant and rude lady in her 40s who offered us the table was simply unreasonable. At first, we told her nicely that we would like a different table if possible, since that one was too small for the 3 of us. She said – of course – that all the other tables are booked. We tried to explain her that we are not planning to spend too much time in the restaurant, as we were going back to the sunbeds after lunch. That the table she offered is not only too small for 3 people, it’s also placed along a lower wall which makes it even more uncomfortable. That most of the table top was already covered with empty plates and glasses, S&P shakers, etc. and we were there for lunch, not for snacks. She didn’t even want to listen.
Then we pointed to a spare table placed somewhere in a corner, with no chairs next to it. I asked her to bring that extra table and it would be perfect to join the 2 tables together. She said it’s not possible, because she may need that extra table if a larger group is coming. But there were already 2 large tables set for groups of 7 people… And most probably, they had other group tables on the groundfloor as well.
It was obviously a blind alley, so I gave up, heading to the tiny table when I’ve heard the most insanely idiotic thing ever: if we would like to have that spare table joined together with another one, we had to sit in that corner where it was placed, but it cannot be connected to the table we already had…?!?! The “explanation”: the tiny table had partial sea view. So if 3 people would like to sit at a double table (for 4 persons, as you normally sit in a restaurant…) they first have to accept the punishment of sitting in a corner… ?! :)))
When we finnished lunch, half of the tables around were still unoccupied and at the large tables meant for 7 people were sitting 5, respectively 4 people :)). I rest my case :)
Too bad for such a poor service.. All the food was great (the artichokes were absolutely delicious) and...
Read moreI have traveled extensively all around Spain and no where else have I met such extremely rude people, the people who work here. We show up and ask for sunbeds with umbrellas, instantly we are denied with the explanation that everything is booked up and that we should have booked in advance. The lady working here we had the displeasure of interfacing with said even if some beds look empty, they are still taken and the people using them are simply out to lunch.
So we ask to rent some towels since we want full sun anyways and we don’t need the service of a beach club. We wanted to come to the public beach and simply forgot our beach towel to sit on. While we stand near the employee hangout, we put on sunscreen before heading to the beach. During this time, two other parties of 3 people show up and ask for beds. They are serviced immediately. The unfortunate lady we spoke with earlier comes back and I ask her why she gave beds to those people when she explained to us before how everything is booked up and how we should have booked in advance. She says it must have been a misunderstanding. No, you’re just rude and not only that but a straight up liar.
A third party shows up asking for beds and they again are offered them, but they want a cheaper option and go to the other side of the beach to get chairs for just 30 euro each. As they walk away the workers at this beach club call them “Pobres”… quite shocking behavior from Spaniards I have NEVER seen anywhere in all my weeks traveling around this usually marvelous and friendly country…. Funny to be calling these people visiting here poors when you work at a beach club and make one fifth or probably even less the amount of money of anyone affording to come to Mallorca on holiday….you can’t make this stuff up, folks.
Anyways, if you choose to be a patron here, keep in mind they offer (or withhold) service and charge based on your appearance, we heard one party being offered 70 euro per chair and another being offered 52 euro per chair. The workers here have no shame and are probably pocketing the extra money unbeknownst to management/the owner. AVOID...
Read moreOne of the best choices you could make is Balneario.
The restaurant is big, comfort and pleasant - the atmosphere by itself is wonderful. The terrace, the beach, the sea...excellent food and a good service. 🌅
The food is really amazing, you have to give a try to the Gazpacho, it is superb. The fishes are adorable and the beef is just more than excellent - I'm highly recording them!
They are very good in the cocktails as well - I'm a Negroni lover and very pedantic of everything, so that I'm telling you, they are good! 🥂
As I mentioned the service is also on a high level. I was looked after by a very professional guy, whi offered me a great service and for a top he recommended me an amazing desert - Gatò cake - which is typical Majorcan desert with almonds and ice cream (you should give it a try👌🏽).
The name of the waiters was Nacho and once again I'm using the opportunity to thank him for the hospitality and the good service and calling me a car to take me after that. You should reward this guy, because he is doing his job more than perfectly.
Located on the amazing Illetas Beach where you can enjoy the beauty of the place on a comfort sun lounger and to be that a masterpiece ✨️ you can enjoy the amazing cocktails and wines that the from hosts at Balneario can offer you while you enjoying the sun or when you go for a dinner afterwards. 👌🏽😊
There is also a big parking where you can park your car.
I can't wait to go again next week to Palma, when I'll definitely visit you again...
