Unfortunately, a 3 star experience... must be non foodie and non real restaurant types coming here. I showed up a bit before 2- standard lunch time for Spaniards.. and got back to my room at 440. The menu, for Spain, is extremely limited. I chose a few tapas in my first two rounds.. it is always annoying here when you're ordering tapas from a menu vs a bar and service keeps trying to pry the menu from your table. Lunch is a marathon- quick trying to rush me! It's SO annoying!
Later on- they got about . 4 more tables and I was forgotten about COMPLETELY, from then to literally the end... how many times I had to turn round 180 degrees and call out , "Discuple!" as the two servers socialized in the back. Service is a disaster- I think someone really new and overwhelmed entirely but trying and another one - super indignant. Ughhhh
Food: Duck wontons were the star. Best thing I had. Full of meat and a nice goat cheese cream. I liked the balance. Arepa- nonsense. A mass of mayonnaise and chicken to some degree did not taste any avocado. Eggplant hummus- what a debacle this was asked to be served with vegetables/crudite vs bread. I got served SUPER SALTY AND SUPER OILY cooked vegetables as crudite. And the hummus was about one and a half tablespoons... wow. Ceviche Corvina.... one of those situations the salt is aLOTTTTT and you keep trying... I finally gave up. THIS CHEF EITHER DOESN'T TASTE HIS FOOD OR SHOULD GO BACK TO SCHOOL TO LEARN BALANCE OF FLAVORS. SO MUCH SALT IN EVERYTHING. I was able to reorder the ceviche , and this time it came with NO SALT. Half of me says - wow that's his response- what an amateur... other half.. glad I can add my own salt bc he is a maniac. I stopped there with several glasses of wonderful wine and couldn't order one more duck wonton bc the kitchen was closing. Ughh.
Then there was a bill discrepancy. Presented one bill- asked it to be charged to my room in the hotel this restaurant sits in. This request took about 20 minutes to come back to me. I went out to the patio to realx and enjoy my last glass. When it did, it was a different price ( higher) and they could not explain it to me ..... Not OK!!!!!!!! I stood at reception to have it resolved and 15 minutes later it was. Thank God this hotel has a free mini bar because I am ready for a drink.
This food is super over inflated opinion wise .....it is NOT that fantastic. Standard to better than standard. Get it together , Cibus! You can be better than this and you should be in a...
Read moreWe had a fantastic dinner here, definitely the best we had in Cartagena. Don't be deterred by the fact that it is a hotel restaurant, the food is so good, probably the freshest and best tasting tapas I've had in a long time - not anything deep fried in a long way. This was genuine and delicious. All served in a beautiful way. And what service! Can...
