Le Otto Pizza — Restaurant in Castelló de la Plana

We checked out Le Otto after seeing it pop up in a bunch of IG stories and hearing whispers about their “proper Neapolitan pizza.” Naturally, curiosity won.

The place itself is a decent size, with clean, modern decor and a relaxed vibe. Staff were friendly, though not the fastest — even simple starters took a while to arrive.

Here’s what we ordered: – BURRATA OTTO – FRITTO NAPOLETANO – LA VERA CAPRESE – Pizzas: JUANCIALE and FEDERICO

Portions were generous, no doubt about that. But when it came to flavor, things didn’t quite live up to the buzz. The JUANCIALE pizza in particular was a letdown, it had an unexpected sweet-and-sour twist that wasn’t really clear on the menu, and honestly threw us off. The rest of the food was fine, but nothing stood out as a must-try.

We were pretty full after the mains, so we skipped dessert, not that anything was calling our name, anyway.

Final take? It’s a nice spot, and we didn’t dislike it… but considering the hype, it just didn’t deliver. One of those “glad we tried it, wouldn’t rush back”...

Llegamos a las 22:25 para hacer un pedido para llevar de una pizza. Al ver que el interior del local estaba vacío, preguntamos si podíamos pedir dos pizzas y sentarnos a cenar ahí (éramos 4 personas). Nos dijeron que no, que iban a cerrar cocina en 10 minutos y que estaban a punto de cerrar el restaurante, así que si queríamos pedir tendría que ser para llevar. Dijimos que vale y nos sentamos fuera a esperar que prepararan nuestra pizza para llevar. Vimos que la camarera estaba sirviendo aún a las mesas y tomándoles nota, y entramos a internet a buscar el horario que tenían. Ponía que cerraban a las 23:30h, y a nosotros nos habían negado cenar ahí una hora antes de cerrar. No lo entendimos, así que volvimos a entrar y pregunté a la camarera que a qué hora cerraban. Me dijo que a las 23:15 pero que cerraban cocina en 15 minutos. Le volvimos a pedir si podían dejarnos sentarnos a cenar ahí en vez de llevárnoslo, y se quedó rato pensativa y nos dijo que es que no había sitio fuera. Le dijimos que el local estaba vacío dentro y que por eso lo estábamos pidiendo. Al final accedió con pocas ganas. Pidió a su compañera que pusiera nuestra pizza (que ya estaba en la caja) en un plato y que nos la sirviera. Nos sentamos en la mesa y no nos trajeron ni cubiertos ni platos ni servilletas. Solo nos pusieron la pizza en medio en un plato, junto con el cortapizzas. Tuvimos que pedir dos veces que nos trajeran cubiertos y platos, porque a la camarera que le pedíamos no sé si es que se le olvidaba o no le apetecía atendernos, nos decía que sí y se iba. En resumen, servicio malo. Y hace mucha calor en el interior, apenas hay ventiladores ni nada para airear un poco en verano. Just walking by and a little bit hungry... So we went in. The interior is aatter of taste, to me it was just very cold and not that pretty. It looks like being somewhere in a ghetto. The service was friendly but uninterested, same warmth as the interior. We ordered two pizzas, my wife had a pizza with pistachio which wasn't that bad, I had whatever that wasn't that good. As being an absolute fan of a good pizza now and then,the taste and the dough was over all somewhere between "okay" and "not that good"... Would absolutely skip it...
