Engels: "I had dinner at restaurant El Arenal in Finestrat, on the beach. I want to write a terrible review to make sure no one goes there. The waiter, who resembled Mario, was extremely frustrated and acted as if he'd been hired straight out of an institution under some subsidy program. He refused to explain anything in English, and everything he said did not match the food we received. We got paella, which was mostly rice and five pieces of fish measuring 0.5 cm. It was more like a pan of rice than paella. On top of that, there was a hair in my food. This ridiculous waiter laughed and said it was a piece of arugula. What an imbecile. When we got the bill, they charged us for two extra drinks and insisted that it was correct. What a disaster of a restaurant. If you want value for money, don’t eat here. There are plenty of other options nearby. Be wise and avoid this place entirely."

De ober, die op Mario leek, was super gefrustreerd en leek alsof hij rechtstreeks uit een inrichting was gehaald en gesubsidieerd aan het werk werd gezet. Hij was niet bereid in het Engels toelichting te geven en alles wat hij zei kwam niet overeen met het eten dat we kregen. We kregen paella die voornamelijk bestond uit rijst en vijf stukjes vis van 0,5 cm. Het was meer een pan rijst dan paella. Verder zat er een haar in mijn eten. Deze achterlijke ober zei lachend dat het een stukje rucola was. Wat een imbeciel. Bij de rekening hadden ze twee extra frisdranken gerekend en probeerden ze ook nog vol te houden dat het echt zo was. Wat een waardeloze tent. Als je waar voor je geld wilt, moet je hier echt niet gaan eten. Er zijn genoeg andere opties in de buurt. Wees verstandig en loop er met een grote boog omheen."

Wish we had read the reviews before dining in this place. We were lured in by a member of staff standing on the street. We both ordered a T-bone steak at a price of €20 each. It was the worst steak we’ve eaten. Chewy as a tough old boot. After trying to cut through the fat we eventually gave in and called a waiter over, he wasn’t very diplomatic or friendly, he called the manager over who argued in Spanish with the waiter, then stormed off. We asked for the bill, which was €65! We decided to only leave €50 as we weren’t happy with the meal. We were chased down the street by the waiter who demanded we pay the rest. We eventually gave in and paid an extra €20! Beware! Just read the response from the restaurant- we didn’t get chance to eat the food before they’d asked us if it was ok and of course you’re going to say it fine as we hadn’t started eating it! As for the customer service in England, it is 100 times better than here! Plus it’s always sorted and the customer is always right. They actually tried to make it better by offering us a free shot! (Not very filling) Just read the past reviews on this place before visiting. Surprised...

Very expensive and not allowed to order what you want...we went as a family of 7 and want 3 different dishes only to be told this wasn't allowed. When you're being charged a minimum of €16.50 per head you should be allowed to choose what you want to eat not to be told we all must eat the same. Kids meals were €9.50 for a very small portion. We ordered 2 beers, 2 lemonades 2 Fanta orange and 1 water. Beers were fine, the lemonade that was brought out was shandy which was more beer than lemonade (one was for our 15 year old) the orange Fanta was a weird off brand or orange pop and the water was a 1ltr bottle which tbf we were grateful for as we did not want the shandy. When we asked for desert menu we were told we couldn't have any only for the same waiter to come out later to ask If we wanted a desert....made no sense at all. We'd been so looking forward to having authentic paella but left feeling quite disappointed. It's fine I'd everyone wants the same but because 1 person in our family doesn't eat seafood we all had to have a meat based paella which isn't...
