Standing on a ancient beautiful moorish fortress, Frigiliana and Competa will delight your senses. If you are looking for fresh fish , come inside this place they have two places , the shelfish one is only open during the summer high season. I DO strongly recommend the entrecôte which melts in your mouth. But one of the most popular dishes that everybody was ordering is deep fried aubergine with sugar-cane syrup ( psstttt... a little secret ask the waiter for extra syrup, they will gladly give you more for sure) , the desserts are also quite something, I tried THREE of them, 3 chocolate cake, Cheese cake and last but not the least a dessert I had never tried in my life but surely will meet your expectations " Grandma's hasty pudding" composed by aniseed and cinnamon. Unbelievable dessert! The treatment of costumers is second to none and the prices are really affordable. The place is embedded into a big square ideal for kids to run around safely and has lovely views of the town's church. Go to the top of the town because it affords a superb view of the whole mountain and even the sea. Lovely place and lovely village. Thank you for your hospitality it is one of the hidden treasures of...
Read moreWe had a wonderful lunch at La Taberna del Sacristán. It's right across from the church and we sat outside to people watch the vibrant little square next the the restaurant.
We ordered three starters to share between the two of us. We had the fried aubergines coated with balsamic and honey, prawns pil pil, and huevous revueltos(eggs with shrimp and vegetables). I really wanted a baked potato and asked to get one even though it's served as a side with the entrees, but I was told they weren't ready yet. All the food was so good, especially the prawns pil pil which was served bubbling hot and had a spicy flavor. To my very pleasant surprise the hostess brought me a potato as they just got done and asked if I was happy. Yes! Very happy!! The potato was so good. I loved all the food, the attentive and friendly staff. I would highly recommend this resturant for a good tasting, relaxing meal. Thank you for the good food and the attentive and friendly service, it...
Read moreLa Taberna is one of the bigger restaurants in the old town, and occupies the Plaza de la Iglesia, right opposite the church. The atmosphere is excellent, the service very friendly, and the food is excellent quality. It is a little more of a wider Mediterranean menu than exclusively Spanish, and offers plenty of choice, with a decent choice of fish dishes.
One of the best features of La Taberna is the fact it has an easy facing aspect. This means, on even the hottest days, by mid-evening, the sun is dipping behind the restaurant building which helps to cool the plaza down significantly. Frigilana can get very hot in the summer months, so don't underestimate how welcome having dinner in the shade will be.
All in all, I can't fault La Taberna, having eaten there 3 or 4 times over a 3...
