After a morning of flailing about in the sea like a couple of overexcited Labradors, we needed lunch. Badly. We wandered up to Maxy Beach in Fuengirola, looking for a decent spot to sort us out before we passed out on the sand.
My mate ordered this monster of a sandwich — ham, cheese, and chicken all crammed together. And for once, he actually stopped complaining about the heat long enough to eat it in complete, blissful silence. A small miracle, truly.
I went for the tuna roll, and it was absolutely spot on. Fresh, full of flavour, and exactly what you want after a swim — light enough to avoid a food coma but tasty enough to make you consider ordering another straight away.
The lad serving us was brilliant. Friendly, spoke English perfectly, and didn’t burst out laughing at my catastrophic attempt at Spanish. You don’t realise how rare that is until you try ordering food anywhere along the coast.
