Restaurante Moncayo35 — Restaurant in Fuengirola

I took an old friend to dinner and we were welcomed into a family. A family both skilled and proud to produce complex versions of sf simple country fare without losing the plot. We had two salads a pear and parm and a goat cheese/date. We shared both, and were surprised at how unique and tasty both were. If I was having a busy afternoon either of these would be the perfect light lunch. For the main I had a pork in red wine reduction with apple/plums. This is why you book, to eat this. Sweet, savory, rich, decadent. My friend had salmon in a heavy white sauce, we both liked it. I can only say how the deserts looks as we saw them arrive, a couple of strawberry pastels. After a starter and main a desert is only for take away....

Well WOW!.. Out on a wander to find evening meal, glanced at menu then greeted by friendly non over powering gentleman explained menu then left us to decide so in we venture.. no pressure, drinks ordered while we made final food choice, my wife ordered .. starter to share poached pear and blue cheese, wow.. then for main she had grilled salmon and mango and myself, black risotto with salmon on soft cheese and squid head.. what can I say.. the flavours were amazing everything complimented each other in a way you wouldn't expect.. portion size perfect. OK, I need to tell you about Moncayo35. This small restaurant has made its way to one of my top recommendations for restaurants in Fuengirola. Moncayo has a lovely atmosphere and the team are so welcoming, you feel like you're eating at a home cooked meal. And that is not far from the truth. You have Gustavo serving you and Mama (Alba) cooking the perfect meal. We had a vegetarian with us and they specially made dishes for her. As someone who loves to eat meat, I have to say the vegetarian dishes were awesome. It is worth visiting the restaurant and enjoying a great meal.
