The Fig Bistro — Restaurant in Fuengirola

This place is a hidden gem with a lovely atmosphere under a large tree which provides much needed shade in an open courtyard, surrounded by picturesque white houses. Beautiful setting. Especially interesting to us with a young child because they are not closed for siesta and only opening at 8pm like some other places. The food is tapas style with some Asian influences and what we ordered was good.

Some people complain about drink prices I see from the reviews but the owner who was able to chat to us for a while told us the neighbours complain if guests get loud and rowdy or indeed if there are several loud children, so I suppose this could be why the drinks are not priced to suit stag/hen parties or children high on sugar. The Fig Bistro is to be found in a quiet part of Fuengirola called Pueblo Lopez, but only a five minute stroll from the centre of town. It's worth discovering. The Fig is situated in a typical Spanish Plaza with, as the name suggests, a large fig tree. It is the sort of place where you will want to linger. On most days a tapas selection is available from lunchtime onwards. Dinner is served on Saturday. You may just want to sit and have a drink. Or two. Been here a few times over the years as my family has a place nearby. I noticed it had reopened under a new name so thought we would give it a try as weve always enjoyed coming here in the past The food wasn't really good, as it was only barely warm and the place just had a strange atmosphere. There were a couple of staff members there, the short haired waitress was a bit off at first, she came across as quite stern but she did warm up a little so maybe just an off day.
