Right. So. We wandered into Lorena Café in Fuengirola one morning, and you could tell straight away this place is the real deal. Absolutely packed with locals — a proper change from the usual beach spots peddling sad excuses for breakfast.
We went for the eight-euro breakfast deal, which included fruit, a coffee, and either a soft drink or juice. My mate went for the orange juice and an espresso, trying to look like a sophisticated gentleman, while I went for the classic cappuccino and a Coke — a combination that would probably make most baristas weep.
The deal itself? Great value. The sandwiches were tasty, the coffee was proper, and it all looked fairly decent... except for my piece of fruit. The apple looked like it had just come back from a war — absolutely battered, bruised all over, and barely clinging to life. I almost felt bad for eating it.
The service? Utter chaos. The lad taking the order completely forgot about the water, so we ended up getting our sandwiches about ten minutes after the coffees, and no napkins arrived. If you’ve got a beard, be prepared to either wear half your sandwich or start begging for napkins in advance.
Then, when it came time to pay, they tried to charge us twice for the water — the same water that had mysteriously vanished earlier. Absolutely bizarre.
That said, the place was buzzing. The terrace was full of life, locals chatting away, and it all felt properly authentic. I, of course, got stuck at the corner table, roasting in the sun, nearly melting my giant Irish head. Luckily, we eventually got the water just in time to stop me from evaporating.
If they could sort out the napkins, bring the food and coffee at the same time, and maybe show a bit of mercy to the fruit, it would be an absolute top spot.
All in all, Lorena Café is lively, local, and worth the chaos — just come prepared with sunscreen, patience, and maybe...
Read moreWill never go here again. I used to like this place but they have charged me 6 euro for a portion of patatas that I asked for with my drink and Pitufo. Usually I order myself from the scanner on the menu but a lady took our order. When I questioned the extra charge of 4 euro! they said that I ordered wrong and thats it. I should have Informed them when the patatas arrived. How am I supposed to know what size your portions are.... also why would I pay 6euro for patatas. My baguette cost 3.90
The staff didn't want to help fix the problem. I go here a lot. I won't...
