Food: Canarian potatoes were bog standard at best, the fish needed more salt, but the alioli was good and the fish croquettes were decent. There was a lot of confusion about which dishes would and wouldn't have potatoes/fries though (resulting in an uneeded side/starter).
Service: extremely surly waiter and, in hindsight, should have gone elsewhere. When we arrived to a 1/8 full restaurant and began seating outside, we were asked if we had reservations. We didn't and the waiter gave non-verbal gestures and body language to suggest we were out of luck, so we motioned to go to the next place, but alas, at this moment, a table magically became available (this was around 2pm btw). Service was fine after this and the Spanish older lady was lovely, however things went downhill as we waited and waited for the opportunity to order a dessert. By the time the waiter arrived and started the dessert repertoirre, our group's fluent Spanish speaker had gone to the toilet leaving non-spanish speakers at the table. They asked for a few moments for the other member to return. Once they had, the child on our table needed the toilet too and the person who asked for a few moments escorted then to the toilets. The waiter returned and the Spanish-speaker asked what is available for dessert. The waiter abruptly declared that he'd already told (a non-Spanish speaker) what was available and offered no further details. The Spanish speaker explained that they weren't there, but because of his demeanour we asked for the bill and left.
La Perla was down 4x desserts due to the attitude of that one...
Read moreThis restaurant might be many things, but "the pearl" is not one of them. Let's start. The table was somewhat dirty and oily. The waiter even though nice guy, he was very clumsy. He brought us food which a different table ordered, TWICE. He made some mistakes at the table next to us, they even started making a bit of fun out of it. No problem, we knew what we ordered so we just told him and he took it to the right table. Then, we get to the food, which if possible, I would rate -1 stars. My calamari (in the picture) were not fresh, they were freeze-dried. I expect fresh fish when eating by the seaside. My girlfriend ordered some mushrooms with garlic(there isn't much to choose for vegetarians). The mushrooms were canned! And they came in a deep plate literaly covered in 1 cm of oil. What kind of food is that? Our experience was very very bad and I am really sorry that I must leave such a bad review, I was looking at other reviews and pictures but it seems that something changed in the restaurant recently and the food...
Read moreIn the charming village of Garachico is the restaurant we happen to stumble upon. Occupied by mostly locals, serving fresh seafood was an excellent experience and the price was very reasonable. We had the seafood platter, which was not on the menu (seen from reviews) and not disappointed the the choice. Fried white baits were extremely tasty, mussels in green sauce was delicious as it can be, with prawns and two type of fish were all very good! Salad for two was fresh... star fruit on top was perfectly riled and sweet. Even the Canarian potatoes was better than in the South of Tenerife (tasted bit more starchy then usual)!
Wonderful experience; gastronomically and the friendly local service. The final bill was the icing on the cake as it was much less than other places on the...
