TX — Restaurant in Getaria

Upon arrival I took a seat outside and politely asked for the menu, speaking in English, only to be told that 'This is Spain, not England!'. So if you, like me, are a tourist visiting Getaria, think twice before spending money at this place with incredibly rude and unwelcoming staff. And now your rating has dropped from 4.3 to 4.2. Maybe that will teach you about consequences of bad service...

There are a few great restaurants in this neighborhood but TX is an excellent choice as well. They offer a more casual dining experience with exquisite Basque cooking. We had their monk fish for two grilled to perfection in garlic and oil. Octopus dish was also nice. It’s a great place for fish and seafood done in an amazing way. They also sell pinxos that were excellent and also fluffy cheesecake....

The pinxtos were good. The beef tripes was ok. It has a smell that wasn't cleaned or blanched properly. The oven baked cabracho was excellent. The bonito steaks were cooked just right, leaving the inside nicely pink. The marmitako was a bit bland. Good selection of wine. The price is decent being where it is. Protip. Order fresh catch if the day as it's fresh and go early. The best fish...
