Blanc — Restaurant in Girona

I was going to give a long winded review. I won’t. Not worth my time. If you are Italian or from somewhere where you understand quality food, run don’t walk way from this place. This might be ok for people who have nowhere to eat in their country but in Toronto or other places that have a developed culinary scene we expect our restaurants to have a cohesive vision and and idea about what ingredients work well together. I was appalled at how bad this meal was (4 of us) The salmon carpaccio with avocado sounded good until it came. It was rancid. The avocado was brown and the dish smelled putrid. The place looks nice…I can’t say it enough, avoid this place. One dish was cod but it had a ketchup like sauce. If you’re GF they have absolutely no knowledge on allergens or menu ingredients. If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. Service is at best, poor. You’ve been warned…govern yourself...

Had lunch at Blanc yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the good quality food and the price was incredibly reasonable. Service was very friendly albeit not as attentive as it should have been. We were given menus written in Catalan and Spanish even though we clearly indicated we speak English and there was no offer for an alternative or to translate. I had to ask for a wine menu because this was not given to us. When I finished my wine my glass was not cleared and I was not asked if I'd like another. And I had to ask about the bill twice and in the end walked up to the service counter to pay. Small things that make a difference between and very good meal and a great meal. We were recommended to this restaurant by a lovely lady at a dress shop in town, we were very glad It is smart and very busy We had a really friendly and efficient waitress Great menu with some interesting choices We had cuttlefish croquettes and aubergine fritters as a pre starter!
