I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Casa Marieta and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in Spain. This restaurant has proudly kept the tradition of serving authentic Catalan cuisine for over 100 years, and it shows in every detail — from the warm atmosphere to the deeply flavorful dishes.
A very special shoutout goes to Pauline, our gracious and thoughtful hostess for the night. Pauline went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect with our meal. Her attentiveness really made the experience feel personal. We ordered the baked snails in tomatoes, the fideuà (Catalan noodle paella), and the squid, paired with white wine, bottle of water and bread. Each dish was rich in flavor, beautifully cooked, and truly showcased the essence of Catalan cooking.
What really touched me was how Pauline noticed how much we were enjoying the snails and offered to complement them with some extra bread — such a thoughtful gesture! And the bread was delicious, perfectly soaking up every last bit of the savory flavors.
The interior of Casa Marietta is just as impressive. It stays true to its roots with a warm, rustic charm that captures the spirit of the region — an authentic Spanish vibe through and through.
As someone from the Philippines, I have a deep appreciation for Spanish flavors, and I could genuinely taste the influence that has also shaped our cuisine back home. Every bite felt familiar yet uniquely Catalan. It was a truly special connection.
And the best part? The price was incredibly reasonable. For everything we ordered (there were two of us), we paid together just a little over 50 euros — a fantastic value for such an unforgettable meal. Make sure to leave a generous tip when you go — it’s well-deserved.
Casa Marieta is a gem. And thanks to Pauline, our visit wasn’t just dinner — it was an experience I...
Read moreupdated the waiter apologized for the very slow service and took the drinks and the paella off the bill when we paid. And in response to the comment below - half of our party were early but were not seated or offered drinks.
Really wanted to like this place. It's a great location and we chose it on the basis of the decent reviews. The food is passable, not spectacular but the service is appalling.
We booked a table for 7.45pm but it took at least 45 minutes for any of the waiting staff to take an order for drinks. Eventually drinks arrived and we had to beg them to take a food order. Our starters arrived relatively quickly and were tasty enough but then the wait began. We waited and waited and waited for someone to clear our plates and bring the main courses.
Eventually I asked a waiter. In a moment they said. They say this a lot. A moment is a long time in Casa Marieta. The waiters clean a lot of tables before they attend to customers. It is just odd. They are slightly polite when they attend to you but seem to have little interest in good customer service.
Most of the main courses arrived...and we waited for the last 3...and we waited...and waited...and waited...the rest of our party finished eating...
Finally the food arrived 15 minutes later. I do not recommend the paella. It is not worth...

Begin your experience with the calamari, perfectly prepared to deliver a crisp exterior and tender inside—a great prelude to the feast ahead. The paella is a standout, boasting a rich medley of fresh seafood and saffron-infused rice that beautifully captures the essence of Mediterranean cooking. For meat lovers, the Iberian ham offers an exquisite, melt-in-your-mouth experience that truly celebrates the art of Spanish charcuterie.
Casa Marieta also impresses with innovative dishes such as pollo con cigalas, where the fusion of chicken and langoustines creates a unique and satisfying combination of textures and flavors. Seasonal specialties like white asparagus add a refreshing note to the menu, while a well-cooked steak provides a hearty and robust finish to the meal.
