If you're in Girona and looking for the perfect treat, Gelateria La Gioconda is the place to go. This charming little gelato shop is an absolute gem—hands down one of the best gelaterias I've ever visited, not just in Spain, but anywhere in Europe.
From the moment you step in, you're welcomed with warm, friendly service and the delicious scent of freshly made cones and creamy gelato. The variety of flavors is impressive and beautifully presented, ranging from classic favorites like pistachio and stracciatella to more adventurous and creative combinations that change with the seasons. Every flavor I tried was rich, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients.
What truly sets La Gioconda apart, though, is the texture—silky, smooth, and just the right amount of indulgent without being too heavy. The fruit sorbets are incredibly refreshing and taste just like biting into the real fruit, while the chocolate options are deep, intense, and satisfyingly luxurious.
You can tell there's real passion and craftsmanship behind every scoop. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to go back again and again to try everything on the menu. Bonus points for being located in such a picturesque part of Girona, perfect for strolling with a...
Read moreI don’t know why they say the serving is small and that it is expensive.
In barcelona & rome , 1 scoop is already 3.5 euros, around 5.5 euros for 2 scoops and 7 euros for 3 scoops.
In here I ordered 2 scoops for only 4 euros. That’s way cheaper than in bcn & roma!
The serving size was great , although i wished the guy gave me more of the pistachio (IT WAS DELICIOUS). The cone is yum too, reminds me of barquillos/apas in Philippines.
Their flavours show how artisinal they are. I am not familiar to most of them but the guy tried his best to explain it to us.
I highly recommend the pistachio and hazelnut. I KNOW, common flavours….it never tasted this good i swear!! The flavour hits the spot for pistachio lovers and...
Read moreMy boyfriend is a big lover of ice cream so prior to our trip I jotted down some spots that had been recommended to visit. There are many ice cream spots in Girona, however, La Gioconda was our favourite, by far! The gelato melted in the mouth and the different flavours we tried were all delicious. They offer a small 1 euro cone which I often enjoyed, allowing a small taste of their yummy ice cream even if, like me, you overindulged during dinner (whoops). Also great idea for children. If you're seeking some ice cream, resist the more obvious choices in the centre of the town and give La Gioconda a try (only a few...
