One very disappointing experience all together. Ordered beers, and the "tapas" offered were two little bowls with chopped tomatoes and a bit of onion... perfect match for the beers, right 🙄? Nothing else was offered, not even the traditional bread basket that you end up paying for in many places in Spain. Then waited some time before the seafood paella arrived, which is normal, yet that was the biggest disappointment. Salty to the point where it's unhealthy, the seafood inside was overcooked big time, the two person portion was small, but anyhow one could not eat more of that salt mine... all for 30€. The only good part was the tap beer, to wash out the salt. The misleading part for us was the number of stars (4.7, really ???!!!) from other travelers... should have read the reviews :( No atmosphere other than being in a small plaza, with a number of other restaurants, you can watch the traffic and minibusses going towards Granada along the narrow Calle Santa Isabel la Real. The smaller table, two chairs just enough for two ppl, and an umbrella is just a common setting. Service was ok,...
Read moreBest sangria and paella, indeed!! Mirador de la Lona has a nice view and is an easy find. Best paella we've had in Spain so far and we've been to Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, & Sevilla... this place does not compare. Paella is flavorful (where other places it was quite bland & disappointing) and the balance between meat & seafood for the paella mixta is perfect. This dish includes fresh squid, and it is noticable. The squid is perfectly cooked, they did a great job. The sangria is delicious and refreshing. It doesn't taste like a child's juice box which is a nice change. You can tell the fruit they put in it isn't a del sol fruit cup mix but freshly chopped lemons and apples. The service is quick and attentive, best around that we've experienced so far even though it was almost a full house. Highly recommend. Also, the beer was super cold and they served it in a frozen stein so that is definitely a nice touch on a...
Read moreThis is a very local restaurant up the hill. Beware that it may take some effort to walk there, but the place is totally worth it. The Chef and his younger helper who speaks English were very friendly to us.
The place sits in a small square overlooking other restaurants and a small white church. I love sitting there around noon, taking in the atmosphere. The food is very good. We ordered a fiduva and a seafood paella. If you want, ask them to put less salt in the food. The portion is enough for my wife and myself, and there is plenty of seafood toppings on the rice.
It's good enough that my wife and I came back again during our 3-day...
