I came here with my partner upon the great review score in Google. The sushi was delicious (high five for the two girls cooking!) and service was fine, so a 5 star review was on the way until the moment I asked for the check.
An amount was said by the waitress (€25) without firstly giving us the check, which is always suspicious, but I still handed over the €25 and then made the math (1 x Racion of €15 + an octopus warm dish of €6 + 2x Alhambra tap beers €1,50 each totalling then €3). Therefore, real amount is €24 and front of house attempted to be sneaky to rip me off slightly and almost unnoticeably. I then asked for the check and realized the waitress becoming uncomfortable with such request, which is every customer right. Coincidently, she stated the machine "was not working properly" and asked if a handwritten check could be given (in such systems, you can't change the product prices so extra amounts are not usually possible to add). I said it was OK and when it came I could see how the two persons in front of house covered the extra euro in the bill, by charging €2 each beer instead of €1,50.
I don't bother with €1, I won't starve with that but what really annoys me is this despicable practice of overcharging customers. The small amount does not matter, a extra scent been added without the customers consent is an horrendous practice and actually is the most affective rip-off practice (if a large amount is added, customer notices it instantly). I wonder how many times an extra 1 or 2 euro has been added in other checks. But fine, I still did pay the extra euro, that's the prize they get for loosing a customer forever (that would eventually pay much more than an euro) and for a 1 star review here. Also, this €1 may roughly be what these people serving us are really valued (€0,50 each). Congratulations!
I still want to praise the two girls in the kitchen. They do a great job despite the non-ergonomic conditions they are subject to. I have worked in kitchens so am aware of its standards. So working on those conditions and tiny little space and still being able to deliver a great food is simply spectacular! Well done girls, you deserve a better place to...
