I chose this restaurant after doing some research about well reviewed places in Granada so me & my boyfriend went there to have a good culinary experience for his birthday. The food was … passable but some dishes were really weird. Anyway I could understand with a tasting menu you are not supposed to like every single dish but apart from the code-fish I barely liked any. I respect the chef trying her best, she did came at the end to greet and ask opinions. I need to point out many disappointing aspects of the service though. The waitress always seemed to rush us to eat and as she was observing how we took every single bite and whether we were eating the bites as previously instructed by her or not she would come and tell us how we were supposed to eat and did it in a very condescending way. Later she went a step further asking my boyfriend, whose birthday we were celebrating (and she knew it very well), she asked him loudly about his very short nails, telling him that her brother was also biting his nails…and she made this comment like she was my boyfriend’s mother. I found this outrageously rude and my boyfriend felt ashamed. I don’t know what was her intention but it really doesn’t matter… How in the world could one waitress make such observation of a client’s look or habit? Did we ask her why she was overweight? No, We didn’t because we mind our own business first and secondly it’s very rude! When the chef came to see us at the end I was so pissed of I was very close to make a complaint but hearing the chef talking with the people at the table next to us saying that she preferred to be at home than at the restaurant made me refrain to even start the conversation about the service.
So if you go try this restaurant be prepared to get a dinner full...
Read morePrefacing this with some context. This review is coming from two Americans who have traveled extensively around Europe, South America, Canada, and Asia, who make it a priority to seek out interesting, and “of the place” restaurants including both local less known places and at this point in our lives, countless Michelin restaurants. We are also wine enthusiasts who have made special trips to various wine regions, including Argentina, California, Italy, Spain, and France solely for the purpose of learning more about the wine. The sommelier at this restaurant, Monica, is an artist. Her pairing of both lesser known Spanish wines and better known Spanish sherries, elevated this already Michelin level meal into sublime territory, worthy of a trip for any wine novice, enthusiast, or expert. She paired even the tertiary notes in the wine. Wow. Before trying this restaurant, we had already sampled the local Granada tapas scene, which is already something special, and I hope qualifies this review by saying this tasting menu and wine pairing holds its place among the best of the best. Go. You have to visit. Some information to know before you go: the setting itself is inside and somewhat stark. There is no à la carte menu, it is only a tasting menu. Prepare yourself for a...
Read moreMust have an off night based on other reviews. I was looking forward to this meal out of all our planned meals during our two week Spain anniversary trip.
Taste: Two out of the seven dishes were fine dining quality and others were very forgettable. Wine pairing not worth it and we would have been better off going with a bottle or two instead.
Preparation: uneven cooking and sloppy plating. One of the dishes had bits a pieces that didn’t belong in the dish. My wife’s was fine but mine was not.
Service: we came to Spain to slow down and appreciate the pace of everything especially the meals. This place reminded us of being at a standard American restaurant where everything is rushed. We were through three courses within 30 minutes and the wanted to serve the next wine while we were still in the middle of finishing the one before. This was throughout the entire dinner and was the most disappointing of the experience.
This place is Michelin rated which based on our experience is undeserved. Perhaps it’s telling that it has not gotten a star or bib gourmand rating after years of trying. Your Spain trip lands you in Granada, save yourself the disappointment and do tapas instead. There are some really good ones that specialize in wines and serve much...
