As a typical Brit, I go around the world expecting everyone else to speak to me in English. Tonight my ignorance got the better of me, and the waiter didn't speak English, any more than I can Espanol. However, we overcame the hurdles. I wanted to order the Squid as a starter, but there was no page in the menu folder for 'starters'. He managed to describe to me that it was a large dish when I queried it. So straight to main course. Olives and an Amuse-bouche of salmon mousse turned up unsolicited, and very nice they were. Dining alone I was able to have wine by the glass and not have to commit to a bottle. My main course was pan-fried veal steak in rosemary butter. It was EXCELLENT!!!! I asked for well done, it was, and cooked to perfection. I had the Pistachio frozen cake for dessert. This too was very nice. I can only imagine on a warm summer's evening it will be even more refreshing (I visited in March). The service was great, I wasn't rushed, the waiter despite my language difficulties, was very attentive and unobtrusive, he even apologised at one stage for my main dish not coming out, but I thought the time it took was fine. The restaurant's architecture and decor of pictures and artworks lends its theme to a bygone era which was very interesting and nostalgic. A lovely meal in great surroundings. I had read a couple of less positive reviews before I went, but they were old and I think less applicable now. I hope mine helps you...

Worst restaurant in Granada! The food was very expensive, and the portions were very small. The food quality was nothing out of this world! There are other restaurants in Granada where the food is inexpensive, the portions are more adequate, and the food quality is excellent. This restaurant is not. Also, the waiter that day was not very helpful. We had a questions about a dish on the menu, and he looked at me and my wife like we were ignorant people because we did not understand the description. He did not describe the dish to us, and only proceeded to read the description again. When we requested the check, they charged us for bread which was NEVER brought to us! The waiter removed the bread charge from the receipt, but the then returned the receipt with a dish price inflated to "make up" for the bread charge that was never brought to us! I told the waiter and even showed him the price on the menu. He replies by saying that it must be a computer error wth a black stare on his face! The manager (I assume) finally approached us to see what was going on, and I described the problem. He went ahead and returned the difference that i was being over charged. Will never return to this restaurant! Not worth it! Expensive, poor service, very small food portions, and low food quality! Overpriced and will...

We loved our dinner at Pilar del Toro and are still thinking about it two days later. We had a group of four adults and two kids and the restaurant gave us a beautiful round table. The service was attentive, fun, kind and patient with us the whole evening. The food was delicious and one of the best meals we’ve had in Spain. We had fried eggplant with balsamic glaze, marinated tomatoes with red onion, perfectly cooked rare filet with rosemary butter, homemade croquettes, grilled calamari, steak, and rabo del toro. The kids had pasta noodles and friend chicken with French fries. Servers were sweet with the kids. All was delicious and the dining room is gorgeous and it’s in a beautiful building in a beautiful part of Granada! This was the perfect...

Pilar del Toro is a cozy restaurant, located in the center of Granada. Our experience there have been lovely since the moment we arrived. The waiter who assist us was friendly and chatty, so we had the opportunity to be sure what we wanted to order. Moreover, he makes really appreciated recommendations :) The food was delicious, and the environment gorgeous. This place is perfect if you are looking for a more intimate dinner with candles, wine… About the price, for being in Granada and in comparison with the tapas’ bar could look expensive, but from my perspective it is not at all, even I would say cheap as the experience was perfect there. Thank you so much, we enjoyed so much there :)

The patio and entourage are really great. Staff is also friendly but they don't speak English at all. The food was... TERRIBLE! Little meat pies that were very dry, covered in burnt plum sauce. Fried artichokes covered in salt, without any additional seasoning. Grilled squid with absolutely no flavour and overcooked. Tuna tartare drenched in mayonaise and burnt lamb ribs with sloppy fries on the side. Ox tail stew swimming in fat and olive oil and just very salty. Total bill almost 200 EUR for: - 3 starters - 4 mains - 1 bottle of wine - 1 bottle of water - 2 coffee Shame!
