No trip to Granada is complete without visiting the Lebanese restaurant Samarcand. Best food in the whole of my stay in Spain. I spent three weeks traveling in Spanish cities from the north to the South, nowhere did I find a better food. The scrumptious Lebanese cuisine added to the special taste of the owners makes your dining at Samarcand an unforgettable experience. If you're hungry and tired of the Spanish silly tapas and craving for some REAl food, then this is the place to go . Ask for Lebanese Mezza, kebbeh, tabouli, hummus, and kabab, for dinner. Or ask for their special plates of rice and chicken or meat and vegetables like I did for a hearty lunch. What you get will surprise you _generous portion of fresh and directly from the oven pot, that'll bring you back to the place everyday of your stay in Granada. The owners are the kindest people you'll meet. Mohamad runs the place making sure to please all the guest's, while his wife Majeda supervises the kitchen work and prepares the best Lebanese recipes adding her own touch. She even told me that she modifies her recipes to cater for the taste of the different nationalities that visit them relying on her knowledge of cultures and their feedbacks over years of experience. If you're lucky, you'll get served by their gorgeous young daughter, Yara, who sometimes helps after school. The place is cozy and modest, with intriguing touch of Lebanese artefacts, scenery, and music. Don't miss their drinks, or tea with the shisha if you're a fan and have some extra time to spend in this beautifully located place in the ancient...
Read moreProbably our favorite meal in Spain so far. So authentic, piping boiling hot. I ordered lamb maklube and my husband ordered their traditional family recipe kofta in tomatoes. The maklube had almonds, raisins, zuchini and eggplant and maybe carrots mmmmm so good. Perfect flavors. The tabouli was so fresh with amazing flavors, just the right amount of lemon and salt seasoning. The Hamara bell pepper appetizer was so good too served with the super thin bread. Summer wine was great just like in other restaurants, they were able to serve mint tea without sugar. The best dessert was the homemade yogurt and honey...simple and delicious. If ur sick of tapas and ham and want authentic Lebanese better than anything in SF Bay Area...
