I hate to leave a negative review of tasquita as it had been a long held favourite which we have visited many times.
Unfortunately on this occasion it fell well short.
Some of the food was good, my fish of the day was nice as were my padron peppers. The garlic prawns were lovely. Some of the food was fine. The seafood spaghetti was okay but not brilliant. Some of the food was bad. The tuna tartare was not nice. It managed to be mushy and yet tough, it was paired with poor quality avocado. It didn't taste like sashimi grade tuna. A big chunk of it got left and no one asked why. Another person in our party had a different fish of the day and it tasted and smelled really fishy. Again a big portion of it was left with staff either not noticing or not commenting.
In fact no one really asked anything at all because of this occasion the service was terrible. Our table wasn't ready. We were not offered a drink until we had been sat for 20 minutes. Then despite it being a hot day it took another hour to flag a staff member to get a second drink. The staff openly complained to us about other customers, they seemed stressed and chaotic. Some of our party had the menu del dia and we almost left before our included desserts as it was taking so long to get basic service. When we did order desserts even that went wrong. During the meal despite obviously fed up tables sat without service some staff seemed to be focused on roping other customers in rather than serving the already busy restaurant. One of the servers was very snappy and sarcastic with our table despite us not complaining at all about the shoddy service.
Our bill totalled 175 for a lunch for 6 people with half the party eating the 15 euro per head menu del dia. We only had one bottle of wine so this was by no means a cheap meal.
We will definitely be giving tasquita a miss in the...
Read moreWe found this cosy restaurant while walking on the promenade. It is small but quaint with a touch of local comfort and pezass.
Let's get 'the bad' out of the way first. The slightly elder gentleman working there seemed to be overly stressed and not as warm in relation to the younger gentleman. It seemed they were short of staff or maybe it was just a bad day.
Having said that, we ordered the seafood paella (obviously as you do once in Spanish lands) and half a litre of red sangria (duh) and garlic prawns to start along with bread with dips. We got chicken nuggets for our little girl. The elder gentleman was very curt while we were trying order but maybe it was because he had a 'to the point' personality - who knows.
The Sangria arrived and we were blown away with how great it tasted (and we have tasted sangria in a lot places) it was exquisite - accompanied by the garlic prawns and fresh bread with dips, just heavenly. Perfect medley of taste. We were told when we ordered paella that it would take 30mins. WORTH EVERY MINUTE - The flavour of the paella and the seafood was so rich and fresh. Burst of flavour alongside the Sangria. We were absolutely stuffed by then that we did not even order desserts.
We left after the meal promptly very very content to say the least. We would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone at all as it was just fantastic ! We would definitely visit again in a...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to go to Los Abrigos last night and as we walked along the promenade we decided to have something to eat at Tasquita del Puerto. The menu sounded fantastic and we both decided to have the 3 course menu of the day. It had a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts. For starters we both chose the garlic prawns and my god, they were absolutely brimming with flavour. If you like garlic then you must try these. Swimming in what must've been at least 6 garlic cloves. Wonderful. We chose the fish of the day (Sea Bream) and the seafood spaghetti. Both these dishes were superb with mountains of flavours. The seafood spaghetti had clams, prawns, octopus etc and was amazing. The desserts of a Canarian pudding and a strawberry sauce with ice cream topped the meal. The service was exhuisite and we were given two shots each after the meal. Very friendly place and a must for anyone visiting. Very reasonable priced too. We've been on the island for 2 weeks now and this has been the best so far. Will definitely be returning. I might just add the views of the sea are...
