RUDEST DOCTOR I'VE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF MEETING
My boyfriend and I are trying our hardest to learn Spanish. Everywhere we go when we stay in Tenerife we will always try and attempt Spanish, apologising that we are learning. We came into this Doctors office in an attempt to buy paracetomol for cold symptoms. There is another pharmacy close by but they sell only natural alternatives. When we walked in, it looked like we walked into an office and immediately thought this was the wrong place however we heard an 'Hola?' from behind a half closed door. I popped my head round and asked 'Lo Siento, tienes paracetomol?' (I'm sorry, do you have paracetomol?) His response was hurried and I felt uncomfortable as I was half in, half out of a doorway and unsure of if he was in there with a patient or not. I suggested we leave but my boyfriend went in when we heard the doctor ask where we are from (in English). My boyfriend said (in English) that we are from England and we are attempting Spanish as best as possible. To which the Doctor replied 'do not speak Spanish with bad manners'. I find that extremely hypocritical given none of what we did or said was impolite, it was a hostile environment from the outset and our question could have been answered with a simple 'No'.
We are trying our best with a new language (we've taken courses, listen to Spanish music, watch Spanish TV shows, continuously work on our grammar, attempt Spanish all the time when we're out and about) and this was the first time we've ever received this kind of reaction. This 'Doctor' is just rude and...
Read moreWe visited this doctor for a consultation regarding an allergy our son developed shortly after arriving to Tenerife. Prior to our visit, our local doctor back home had prescribed an antihistamine commonly used for allergies. However, when our son’s condition did not improve after two days, we decided to seek a second opinion to ensure nothing serious was going on.
From the moment we arrived at the clinic, it was evident that the doctor had significant difficulties speaking English. When he learned that we had been giving our son the medication he did not prescribed, he became extremely angry. He insisted that this was not a medication he had recommended and began yelling at us in front of our child. This outburst not only shocked us but also terrified our son, who started crying intensely as soon as we left his office.
Furthermore, he went so far as to tell us to return to our home country and consult with the doctor who originally prescribed the medication. His tirade lasted for approximately ten minutes, leaving us with no proper consultation or explanation. Feeling extremely uncomfortable and distressed, we decided to leave immediately and seek help from more competent medical professionals at a hospital.
I strongly do not recommend this doctor, especially for families with small children. His unprofessional behavior and inability to communicate effectively only added distress to our situation.
In another hospital, we received excellent service, and the doctor prescribed an antihistamine, albeit in a...
Read moreWonderful Doctor Rodolfo Almara Schiavo - while on holiday at a local hotel, we were both taken down with a nasty stomach virus. Dr Schiavo visited us at our hotel within two hours of being contacted. My husband was well within 24 hours myself taking a little longer however, still being able to continue our wonderful holiday. We are both extremely grateful for the kind care. The time taken to check us both fully before being given any medication; and the quality of medication we were given including natural options were extremely welcome. Cannot thank the doctor enough, really made quite an awful experience into a not quite so bad an...
