SA COVA - Old Town - Ibiza — Restaurant in Ibiza

After I had a great experience in service, attention, kindness and good food in San Antonio Sa Cova, I wanted to try the Ibiza venue from them. Came here the other night with my daughter to dine. It was about 22.00h (normal dining hours in summer in Ibiza) there was one table free out of maybe 10 or 12 not sure now, it was not set up but okay shouldn’t be a problem. The waiter, if I am not wrong it was one of the owner, explained very extensively the menu and wine card to one of the tables. Fine we wait. There was (if I remember well) one other waiter who ignored us. Then the owner turned around and I asked friendly if we could stay and have dinner, just me and my girl. He was very rude, arrogant and asked me if I reserved? I said “no” pointing to the free unset table and said something like “if we could stay at that table” he watched me, then my daughter and said very unfriendly - it almost felt like he wanted to kick me out - that they don’t have a table they would be fully booked and made me signs to leave. I was very confused after the amazing experience of kindness I have had 2 months ago in San Antonio and reading all the good reviews, I got kicked out like this, treated as an unwanted guest, like I would disturb or be disgusting… it felt very weird. I watched my daughter I did not even have words for the rudeness and we left. I think this was my last time stepping into the Sa Cova restaurant. Offering my well earned money as an all year resident on the island, restaurants need us in the low/winter season. But after this treatment I will bring my money elsewhere. Before travelling to Ibiza we had reserved a spot at SA COVA after a recommendation. We had high expectations after looking at other reviews and pictures of the food and let’s just say it did not disappoint!

It’s a beautiful quent restaurant situated right in the middle of Old Town Ibiza which is beautiful and is worth a visit in its self.

There were five of us and we were seated out the front of the restaurant which really made the vibe that extra bit more special as the sun was setting and the drinks were flowing. The staff were super attentive and friendly and couldn’t wait to tell us all about the menu and the wines. The staff really made sure to make it a special experience for us all.

On to the food. The food was exceptional there is no other way to describe it. Everything was extremely fresh and full of flavours and none of us could fault any dish that we had.

I will be sure to come back next time I visit Ibiza and anyone who I know that is travelling to Ibiza in the near future I will be sure to make sure this restaurant is the first place...

First time : "June 2024" in this restaurant was very pleasant, the owner seemed very sympathetic and we had a nice conversation together.

Although we wanted to eat in this restaurant a second time "September 2024" , but we were a bit late with the reservation , so anyway , we went there because we were in the city of Ibiza (Restaurant also located in the city), but when we received a response to our question whether there was table available, the owner turned out to be fairly short and blunt in his response.

After arriving at the restaurant where we asked the owner if it was possible to have dinner with 6 people, the owner turned out to be very annoying to us because there was no place available that evening, actually quite unprofessional behavior from his side , we just wanted to come and eat there.

Conclusion: The food was very good the first time, but after such rudeness we no longer feel...
