Pizzeria Parrilla La Casita — Restaurant in La Oliva

Beautiful restaurant with attentive staff...only the food let it down. On entering, the waiter tried to entice us to buy T bone steaks they were not shown on the menu. We asked the price, but were not told, but we followed him to the fridge by the kitchen where he pulled out 2, then asked the chef for the price...€60 quoted for 2 steaks...more then twice the price of anything else on the menu...we declined. Instead 9 of us ordered chicken, squid, paella and fillet steak dinners. I had the paella which was OK, but I’ve had a lot better. I felt the rice was undercooked, the flavour a bit lacking and not many showcase seafood items. Either side of me, my friends quietly said their chicken dishes were too salty...I had a piece and had to agree, and needed more beer to wash the salty taste away. Deserts were of the plastic menu pictures type like you get in cheap Indian restaurants. Prices were higher than we had elsewhere. We agreed we would not eat...

Cockroach city. We chose to eat here based on the good reviews but we were bitterly disappointed. The staff cannot crack a smile. Perhaps a medical condition makes it so but it's not very welcoming.

On arrival, I used the bathroom and saw an expiring cockroach. I took a photo so I could warn my family. It was on its back but the antenna were still moving. I shrugged it off as we are in a hot country so cockroaches are to be expected?

We ordered the food. As we waited for it to arrive we saw a cockroach under our table. Crushed it. Food arrived. Then another cockroach appeared under the table. Then another two metres away. We asked for the bill as enough was enough. We have eaten in the Canary Islands many times in the last 9 years but this was the first time we've experienced a restaurant full of...

First time we are here the food was lovely so we went for a second time. I had the slow cooked pork knuckle again as it was nice on our first visit. However it was tough and tasted sour. The waiter was off hand but changed it and I opted for the grilled squid which would have been ideal, had I wanted to resole my shoe!!!!. The whole experience ruined our evening. I was with my dad, so I had to sit there whilst he ate his meal and then he had to sit watching me attempt to eat mine when I eventually got it. A few mouthfuls was all I could manage. Again the waiter didn't seem bothered. Wouldn't recommend this...
