Jolgorio — Restaurant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

I went there with my boyfriend for several mornings as we had a reservation (with breakfast included)at the hotel just around the corner and we got really disappointed. I understand that in October you may not have the choice of food you have in high season but what is important is presenting good food to your customers. The first morning I decided to order pancakes as they were on a small menu presented to all the guests of the hotel, the fresh orange juice and a cappuccino, definitely not a big deal. The orange juice was old and not "freshly pressed" as it was written on the menu so not really tasty, the cappuccino was without foam, with a lot of small pieces of coffee inside and a very minimum quantity not to talk about the temperature that was 1000°C so impossible to drink. The pancakes where full of cinnamon and with a weird consistency, I mean if you don't know the recipe just don't include them in the menu..as simple as that. In the next mornings I tried the croissant with Nutella and it was slightly better but believe me, nothing really good. When you decide a budget for your holidays the last thing you want to do is waisting your money for a 7 days breakfast that is quite terrible. For two mornings we decided to go to the bar just next to this one and we had a very good breakfast. What I want to warn you about is that there's no care in the way the serve the customers and the offer is poor and also the look of the bar, especially inside is not clean. We had an extremely rude and unpleasant experience at this place. The staff treated us with complete disrespect. The place itself is not very clean, but despite that, we used to come here every weekend with our family. We’re not tourists — we’re locals.

Today we simply wanted to spend a bit more than an hour here working on our laptops. We ordered one espresso and one regular coffee. After that, we asked for a fresh orange juice and another coffee, but instead of serving us, they basically asked us to leave. They told us they didn’t want us to stay longer with our laptops, even though there were four free tables inside and almost all the tables outside were empty. Their reasoning? That people can’t sit here and “take up space for too long and it’s nor permitted to work from here’” wtf?!!!

The way it was communicated was incredibly rude. When I told the waiter this was ridiculous, he wouldn’t even look me in the eye — he just walked away and refused to speak with me. Honestly, I’ve never experienced such disrespectful treatment in any café or restaurant. Truly disappointing.

Tuvimos una experiencia extremadamente grosera y desagradable en este lugar. El personal nos trató con total falta de respeto. El sitio, además, no está muy limpio, pero a pesar de eso, solíamos venir aquí todos los fines de semana con nuestra familia. No somos turistas — somos residentes.

Hoy solo queríamos pasar un poco más de una hora trabajando con nuestros ordenadores. Pedimos un espresso y un café normal. Luego solicitamos un zumo de naranja y otro café, pero en vez de atendernos, prácticamente nos echaron. Nos dijeron que no querían que nos quedáramos más tiempo con el ordenador, a pesar de que había cuatro mesas libres dentro y casi todas las mesas afuera estaban vacías. ¿La razón? Que no se puede estar “ocupando la mesa tanto tiempo y no se puede teletrabajar de aquí?!!!!

La manera en que nos lo dijeron fue increíblemente grosera. Cuando le comenté al camarero que esto era una broma, ni siquiera fue capaz de mirarme a los ojos — simplemente se fue y se negó a hablar conmigo. Non venite in questo bar!! Don't get in here!! This is one of the worst and saddest bar I've ever stepped in. If it wasn't for the deal that they have with the hotel where me and my girlfriend were staying (breakfast was included) I would have never came back after the first time.
