We looked around for celiac friendly restaurants of which there are not many in the Mahon area. (We had a beautiful meal at two in Punta Prima). We saw the prices were a little higher than we normally go for but my partner said it's our last meal on the island and we should treat ourselves. I was very keen to have local fish before we left. So I went for one of the specials and my partner went for the calamari. At the start of the meal we were asked who was the celiac and if there were more allergies. I said banana. I got a smile and a little chuckle. I thought "maybe that's an odd thing to let them know of if I'm in a fish restaurant not ordering pudding" . So we waited for our main which was prompt. I looked at the "bed" on which the fish lay and I studied what looked like a banana slice. I asked my partner to confirm and he said it couldn't be so we called someone over. The gentleman confirmed it was definitely banana so we stated again we mentioned it. The lady said I never mentioned it. Due to the fact wheat hurts and banana can kill me I mention it even if it's laughed off. This scared me and I will admit I had tears in my eyes for the rest of the time in the restaurant. A replacement meal was made where the "bed" of vegetable was changed but the whole experience was now soured so on putting the fork down at the end we asked for the bill and left immediately.

The place is nice and have a elegant and cool atmosphere, relaxing and chilled. Perfect environment to enjoy the conversation at the table. The food is just so-so. My monkfish was slightly undercooked, bland and the side was so simple and not well-thought (4/10), the octopus was really good and well served (7.5/10), the mackerel was salty (5.5/10) and the starter (gazpacho) was good but lacked visual preparation (6/10). The services was okay, but the owner charged us 4.5 euros for tap water (claiming they have a filtering system), but it is tap water in the end and Mahon’s tap water is not drinkable, and she argued with us quite rudely, which was wrong and extremely unprofessional because it was our feedback. The wine menu lacks some quality and it is overprice for the below average wines they have. The presentation of the dishes was nice, and the desert was good too.

The restaurant is in a lovely location in an old building, and is basically a fish restaurant. The decor is beautiful - really modern but exciting. Staff were lovely and very well-informed. We started with an Amuse-Bouche which was a nice touch. We shared a starter of cannoli which were delicious. My husband had the scallops which were amazing, served with little parcels of beetroot and artichoke. I had fish of the day which I selected Scorpionfish. The fish was ok but the rest of the dish was just … boring!! Especially when compared with scallops (my second choice would have been the monkfish and I wish I’d gone with that as it looked much more interesting!) Lovely touch to have a Choc truffle at the end of the meal! Would I go back? Not sure - it’s on the pricey side, and I have to say I was disappointed with my meal.
