Thursday 18th July 2024: 3x of us attended around 19:30 hrs and were met by a smiling, happy hostess, who seated us and gave us menus. We ordered a round of drinks before ordering our food. After our drinks arrived a young waiter came to take our food order with a sullen look. Because of all the choices on the menu, we asked if we could order the starters first and our mains later. This was met by the waiter's eyes briefly rolling skywards before taking our order: Japan Skewers (grilled chicken), Chicken Gyoza (chicken and vegetable dumplings), and Shao Mai (with pork, prawns and bamboo). Everything came out except the Shao Mai, so we waited 5 minutes, still nothing. A Spanish waiter was standing a few tables away looking at his mobile phone. When he looked up from it, I raised my hand to call him over; he looked directly at me, then bowed his head to continue looking at his mobile. A lady seated at another table, next to ours, saw this interaction, looked at me stunned (as was I) and we both shook our heads. I did manage to get the attention of the lady who greeted us. She advised us that the meal would arrive in two minutes. The dish arrived a few minutes after the rest of us had finished our starters. No dear reader, the restaurant was not full; only 5x tables were occupied outside at that time. No one was seated inside. Japan Skewers: 3x grilled chicken pieces out of a total of eight were overcooked, chewy, and stringy, but the rest were fine. Our mains: California Uramaki with crab and avocado, Pato Picante Plancha (spicy grilled duck), and Pad Thai Noodles were all nice. Again, there was a long wait for the Uramaki as it was freshly made to order. All of these were brought to our table by the miserable-looking young waiter; he did not smile once to any of the guests that he attended to whilst we were there. In all, the food wasn't bad; two of the staff I've mentioned, however, need to be taught how to treat customers with kindness and humility. As for dishes arriving long after other guests have finished theirs, just inform guests of the delay and bring everything out at the same time.
Would I eat there again? I very...
Read moreThe good and not so good experience. We had eaten earlier in the week with friends and had a great meal and service and so decided to return again. We were the first guests to be seated for the evening meal and our order was taken promptly. Our starters arrived and the food was very good as before. The restaurant then got pretty busy and it all went a bit wrong after that. We had one bowl of rice then arrive but no other dishes. Other guests that arrived after us were being served with food but no further dishes arrived for us. We chased up and the rice was taken away but after about 20 or so minutes still no food. Takeaway meals we saw were coming out which was frustrating. The excuse was the kitchen was busy but still other tables were being served that had arrived well after us. Eventually as I asked to pay for what we had been served and go elsewhere our food appeared (that was about an hour and a half after arriving) with the reason that the kitchen had lost our food order ? ! The staff reduced the bill for us but that was not the point. So one five star visit and one that was not a...
Read moreFuimos a comer 2 pax .
