The bao bun cha (white bao stuffed with meat from Secreto Iberia) was some of the best bao we’ve ever had, it was amazing. We also had for an appetizer their ha cao gyoza (pork and chive gyoza with sweet soy sauce). For our entrees, we had the pho xao (wok rice noodles with beef and vegetables accompanied with tamari and sweet soy sauce), which was also probably the best pho we’ve ever had. As well as the pork curry (sautéed pork with mushroom, lime leaf, accompanied by jasmine rice), which I thought was amazing until I had my wife’s pho, which blew my mind. For dessert, he had the mango lassi (yogurt with fresh mango sauce), egg flan, and chocolate lava cake. The first two desserts were good until we experienced how amazing the chocolate lava cake. Wow, please please please save room for it! If you had to, I’d say order the bao, beef pho, and chocolate lava cake!

This is the first place we’ll visit should we ever swing by Madrid again!

Note: Our waitress was kind enough to bring us some Vietnamese coffee! It was personally a little two sweet for us, but we do like black coffee. If you like sweet coffee however, we would...

I was looking for a quick lunch option before taking the train. At 1PM on Sunday I turned out to be the only visitor. The phone-obsessed waiting staff couldn't have been more disinterested but, hey, there's no rule saying that I couldn't greet them first. They were kind enough to hand me the menu and I excitedly discovered that bun cha was on the list. A few minutes later I heard the unmistakable microwave ching from the kitchen and realized my mistake. The pork arrived lukewarm, it tasted ok but clearly not worth 15 euros. Then again, would I have been happier with a sandwich at the train station?...

No entiendo como la gente le pone tan buena nota, he ido un par de veces y no le daría más de tres estrellas.

El principal problema es la baja calidad de los ingredientes que usan, especialmente las carnes: he probado todas las que ofrecen en sus distintos platos (cerdo, ternera, pato...) y siempre les pasa algo, ya sea que tengan demasiada ternilla / grasa, estén algo duras o hebrosas, etc...

También lo he notado en postres como por ejemplo el brownie, que era 100% de los que compras en el supermercado, y encima de la gama más barata que puedas encontrar.

Me da la sensación de que los cocineros hacen lo que pueden con lo que les dan, y en algunos platos no les queda tan mal el resultado, pero es que con esos ingredientes no se puede esperar demasiado.

Todo esto sería esperable si la comida completa te saliese a unos 10-12€ por persona (como pasa con muchos bares de menú del día, que sabes que la calidad está limitada por el precio tan ajustado que pagas), pero es que aquí LOS PRECIOS SON DESORBITADOS.

Por ejemplo, dos mini-baos, cuatro empanadillas y un bol de curry me salieron a 40€... (sin postre y bebiendo solo agua). Puedes comer un poco más barato si solo pides un entrante, pero aun así que estés pasando de los 30€ por algo con estas calidades me parece absurdo.

Da la sensación de que el dueño esté intentando sacar el máximo provecho posible recortando los gastos al máximo (por ejemplo también me pareció que les vendría bien un camarero adicional, el que me atendió se veía que tenía que ir corriendo todo el rato...) e inflando los precios con la excusa de que es "comida exótica".

Como único punto positivo diré que el curry les queda muy bueno (solo he probado el curry verde con tira de ternera, si los demás son parecidos estarán también ricos), creo que es lo único que salvaría...

Distrito 1 es un restaurante de comida vietnamita que se encuentra en el número 24 de la calle Delicias de Madrid, bastante cerca de la estación de Atocha. Este restaurante se ubica en el local que hace unos años ocupaba la taberna “L’Antigva” y como recuerdo de ese pasado, en su fachada aún se conservan los azulejos donde se anunciaba entre otras delicias castizas el “Cocido Madrileño” el “Vermouth de Barril” o la “Cerveza Tirada al Estilo Antigvo”. La cocina vietnamita que podemos degustar en el restaurante Distrito 1 es el resultado de la fusión de la gastronomía de la zona norte del país, donde se encuentra la ciudad de Hanói, con la de la población de Ho Chi Minh (conocida en occidente como Saigón) que está al sur de Vietnam. Era la primera vez que comíamos en un restaurante en el que se servía comida originaria del Vietnam y a decir verdad la experiencia ha sido muy positiva. Lo primero que hay que valorar es la buena cerveza vietnamita de marca “Bia Saigon” elaborada de manera tradicional con arroz y cebada. Como entrante nos decantamos por unos “Nem Hai San” (Rollito de marisco con gambas, calamares y verduras con salsa mayonesa de siracha), y por “Bao Nam” (Pan blanco al vapor relleno de champiñón rebozado, zanahoria y mango acompañado en reducción de salsa de soja). Los platos principales fueron “Ca-Ri Ca Hoi” (Curry amarillo con salmón, cebolla, pimiento rojo, hoja de lima y leche de coco acompañado con arroz blanco de jazmín) y “Ca-Ri Ga” (Curry amarillo de pollo y champiñón al wok con leche coco, lemongrass y cebolla, acompañado con arroz blanco de jazmín). Como postre elegimos un sabroso Flan de Coco, decorado de una forma espectacular. Finalmente hay que resaltar la amabilidad de la persona que nos atendió y asesoró sobre los ingredientes de los distintos platos.
