Looks can be deceiving. I was so keen on trying this restaurant, especially after following them on Instagram and seeing their photos of well presented food and the eclectic mix of vintage decor. However, the actual experience was way less apetizing and appealing. The evening started with our waitress taking forever to take our drinks order and bring the drinks. The starters order was messed up and only one hot starter was served. After waiting 10 mins for the next starter to arrive (and no waitress in sight), we shared the now cold starter: tempura prawns in kimchi mayo. The prawns were not de-veined which made for unpleasant crunching on the thick, black alimentary canal. After calling the manager over, he did his best to resolve to situation by taking charge of our orders and giving us a free second plate of prawns. I recommend the stuffed mushrooms as a starter. My main was duck tacos which were salty and dry. I left the last two on the plate. Although the desserts looked interesting, at €80 for two people I felt the damage was already done and had no interest in anything else. However when the bill came they had included additional items not served and they had charged over and above the 10% premium for the terrace, close to 40% for some items. This would be ok, as it can be normal if you are speaking English in a restaurant in Madrid. The issue was when challenged on the corrections required to the bill, the manager on duty instead of correcting the bill, made up excuses such as, IVA (vat) was not included in the terrace premium, when it was stated in the menu IVA include, then the math was wrong (10% is simple to add and was clearly wrong). To get the the point where the bill had to be recalculated and was clearly wrong (too high) was very frustrating after a nice meal. Please calculate your bill correctly and if challenged on this make sure you are in the right before saying the customer/there other side is wrong. The plumas iberico overcooked, a potato puree done by machine and tasted like liquid glue. The apple puree tasted like baby food formula,with loads of sugar and cinamon,no taste of apple whatsoever. The entrecote Cafe de Paris was ordered medium rare arrived raw, blue! When asked to cook a little bit more, the head waiter confronted me saying that that was medium rare. It is a first for me to be confronted by a waiter when asking for the meat to be cooked in a proper manner. Needless to say that the meat returned almost in the identical state.
