Read moreWe just had lunch at the new Manero (Cubas) in Madrid. We really enjoyed it mainly because of the beautiful decor and great music. Generally the food was very good but I ordered the Solomillo Wellington for my plato principal. The filet mignon was chewy and sinewy. I was surprised because for a restaurant that is all about caviar and champagne I would have expected it to be super tender as is common when it comes to beef at even mid range spanish restaurants. The other minor shocker was dessert. I ordered an affogato. Again for a restaurant that serves caviar and champagne with a luxe vibe and setting, I expected better quality ice cream. It tasted like a basic vanilla ice cream you would get at a grocery store. To the point there were ice crystals in it. I looked on their website to privately email this review to them but there was no email contact. So... sorry for this review on Google. Truth is, if you are going to set the tone for high end dining, follow through with the quality everywhere. (I would have gladly paid more for the solomillo if the quality was better) Other than these things we really enjoyed it, but we should have as it was about a 380€ lunch for 2 and we didn't even go "overboard". Service was solid, not impeccable but very solid. We will return and I hope you make changes based on...
Read moreEXCEPTIONAL. Where to even start… My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this place during our first night in Madrid and wanted some cocktails. As Negronis are our favorite, it was perfect they had several signature ones. After ordering our first round, we stayed for a second. Let me just take the time to say that ALL the staff are so welcoming, loving, and caring. Juan-Carlos, Ramon, Cesar, Alex and rest of the crew took extra care of us. We loved it so much we came back the second night and actually told them my girlfriend and I became engaged that morning! They were ecstatic for us and brought out celebratory champagne on the house and all congratulated us with such genuine affection. We traveled around Spain for 10 days and for our last 2 nights in Madrid, returned yet again. We ordered some food and more Negronis and they welcomed us with open arms and greeted us with our names! Such a special place. We left tonight, being our last night, and they all said goodbye and wished us well. We came to this place as strangers and left with memories, laughs, and new friends. Manero is incredible and I highly recommend everyone to give...
