Environment = 5 stars. The restaurant is situated in a posh area of Madrid called Salamanca. It’s definitely a local scene rather than the more tourist scene you would experience in Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor.

Service = 4 stars: I’m American and my American longtime friend came to visit Madrid and he has a work colleague who is from Madrid. Our Spaniard host selected the restaurant and graced us with hospitality. However our Spanish host ordered a fish first course and a beef second course for all of us to share along with some appetizers and white and red wine to pair with fish and meat. The waiter served the beef and not the fish. A bit of a disagreement ensued between the wait staff and our host. Waiter claimed that we did not order the fish. It was a very uncomfortable situation for everyone. Admittedly this was the first time I personally experienced unapologetic service from a Spanish restaurant. We mediated the situation and we ate the beef first and then the fish. At the conclusion of meal the waiter did not charge us for dessert or our after dinner drinks. We made peace. Still it was uncomfortable situation.

Food = 5 stars: the sea bass prepared in encrusted sea salt holds the moisture and creates a tender meaty texture that melts when you eat it. The beef which was a part of the ribeye was grilled to perfection and cooked medium rare and tender.

In summary, i would have given this restaurant 5 stars but I just as easily could have given it 3 stars due to the wait staff disagreement. I...

He encontrado este lugar de casualidad y me he quedado sorprendida con la calidad- precio y atención. Hemos pedido una ración de pulpo a la gallega que era más que suficiente para 2 personas y ha sido uno de los mejores pulpos que he comido. La atención por parte de " El gallego" ha sido tan exquisita como los postres ( tarta de limón y flan de queso) ¡buenísimos ! Volveremos a probar más platos sin dudarlo.

12/08/25 Volvimos para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi hermana ya que la primera vez que fuimos nos había sorprendido en cuanto a la calidad trato y servicio del lugar. Y pongo esta reseña porque me gusta ser transparente y sincera tanto en lo bueno ( como lo fue la primera vez que fuimos) como lo malo. Siento tener que escribir que pareció otro lugar completamente distinto cuando volvimos por segunda vez. Nos ofrecieron entrar dentro a comer , nos pasaron a una mesa que no estaba limpia ,no se habían molestado ni en quitar las migas de la mesa y las sillas y en el suelo se apreciaba un insecto vivo que insinuaba poca higiene de primeras. Decidimos irnos a la terraza y seguir en el mismo lugar, puesto que era sábado , agosto y una hora ya donde los servicios de comida habian empezado. Avisamos con educación y discreción de lo que habíamos visto ,nos pidieron disculpas pero el servicio dejó mucho que desear ya que tuvimos que repetir varias veces lo que queriamos comer, no había tantas mesas ocupadas como para no retener la información y nos cobraron un aperitivo ( que obviamente no avisaron que iba a tener un coste, pensamos que era un detalle de la casa por lo ocurrido) que ni siquiera pedimos ( cosa que la primera vez no ocurrió, no hubo ningun aperitivo en mesa) Me decepcionó muchísimo la atencion, la comida,el ambiente, todo...asi que por esta misma razón y por la gente que pueda leer mis reseñas no puedo decir nada bueno de la segunda vez que fuimos ahí y por supuesto no...

Horrible service, we had to wait 10 minutes for menu, 20 minutes to order... Waiters unprofessional and rude. Food was bland, tataki overcooked, without taste, just with tons of sesame... Tartar tuna was good and well seasoned. Ensaladilla rusa good but looked not very fresh. When we were eating outside, the personell started to dump the garbage bins right next to us with horrible smell of spoiled fish....
