We had a fantastic dinner at Lola Sí Mola on our last night in Madrid. We were in the mood for paella and liked the look of theirs in the photos, and so we made a booking and went. We chose the seafood paella and got a pitcher of sangria to chase it down, and we ordered the soft shell tacos for a starter.
All three choices were excellent. The sangria came out first, and while we find that many restaurants tend to make their sangria too sweet, this was perfect. The alcohol was in great balance with the sugar and fruit, and it tasted so good we couldn’t stop drinking it! Then came the tacos, which were very good as well: the meat was tender, the shells were soft and fresh, and the tacos were lightly moistened. Excellent start to the meal!
After that, the paella came out, and boy, was it ever good! The prawns and mussels were cooked perfectly and it wasn’t at all overly salty, as paella can sometimes be. We enjoyed it so much that we ate the entire thing and were actually scraping the rice off the bottom at the end. And to top things off, when we got the bill, we were very happy to pay a reasonable amount and not be overcharged.
In short, we really enjoyed our meal here and will happily go back again the next time we’re in Madrid. Highly...
Read more2-3 years ago i was here for lunch, and i was served with a guy with lotsa character and the food was amazing. I not only put this restaurant in my Madrid list but also favorited it; a rating only 3 restaurants have in Madrid. Since then I could never make it back.. it was closedZz it was full.. i didn’t have an opportunity etc. Today i was determined to do it, and by God I did when all roads were blocked in Madrid. And i wish i didn’t.. that i lived with the memory. Unhappy and uninterested service personnel to the point of being rude and most importantly totally average or below average food that you can find any roadside average restaurant. I feel there has been an ownership change and they are living off their laurels but won’t last long. What a pity!
Note: as i am still in the restaurant, i adled to one of the nicer ladis and she confirmed about...
Read moreVery nice restaurant near the Prado from where we came from a very long, exhausting day. Our host, Alex, gave us a wonderful time and took really good care of us. He spoke perfect English but also switched to whatever language we tried (Italian, Spanish) with patience and friendliness. We wittnessed that every guest he took care of left the small restaurant with a smile. And so did we.
Regarding the food:We were pleased there was a vegetarian paella, rustic and tasty, but also a fantastic roasted steak. As a starter, we took the alcoholik Mojito and the non-alcoholic Moscito and both were good. The beer afterwards was a craft beer and surprisingly good.
To sum up: full recommendation if you are looking for "authentic" dishes (i.e. no haute cuisine, but fresh and tasty), perfect service (thanks again, Alex!) and a...
