Really good quality and delicious Turkish food. They would deserve 5 stars if they also could bring the quality of the service to the level of their cuisine. Because currently it's far from that.
I had been there for the first time with a few friends and we were very impressed with the majority of the dishes we had ordered.
Today, however, going for brunch with my Spanish friends, to introduce them to our great breakfast culture, I've had one of my worst restaurant experiences ever.
We got scolded multiple times by the waitress and the manager (I believe, the young Turkish speaking man) for not putting a note in the reservation that we were going for breakfast, which I don't even know if Google reservations allow. I had booked their earliest availability for Sunday, which was 1 pm, and called them about it before making my reservation, and had spoken with the manager. They started saying that they cannot give us breakfast because they had already closed their breakfast service, and that giving us breakfast would cause their whole lunch service to be delayed.
I repeated we were there for the breakfast, and asked if they would be so kind to prepare it for us as we had spoken the previous week. The manager in a very aggressive attitude said he would talk to the kitchen and then disappeared. This discussion is probably happening around 1:35 because no one came to get our orders or see if we would like to have something to drink until that time. (I should mention that 2 of our friends joined us around 1:25)
When we saw the waitress bringing drinks to the adjacent table at 2 pm and still ignoring us, we asked what was going on, whether they were going to serve us something or not, and asked if we could get some drinks because we were very thirsty at that point. I told her that we had been waiting for almost an hour with no food, no drinks, no snacks, nothing. She said with a very unpleasant tone "no, your reservation was at 1 and you arrived at 1:30", to which my first arriving friend reminded he arrived exactly at 1 pm, and me 10 minutes later.
At that point we were feeling extremely uncomfortable and decided to leave. We had just gotten up and put our jackets on when she appeared with the first breakfast plates. We decided to sit back down to eat, because by then we all were very hungry and thirsty, along with being very upset.
Bringing some of the last plates, our amazing waitress made another attempt to scold us, saying "ok now we prepared this breakfast for you but next time you need to..." which I couldn't help but interrupt and told her we understood and we didn't need any further stress before having our food.
Thankfully the food was good but I'm definitely not inviting anyone there from now on, as long as the lousy service remains the way it is. I felt really embarrassed in front of my friends for the stress we had to go through to have some decent Turkish food.
I definitely advise to go and try the Turkish delicacies but please do go with the lowest expectations for the...
Read moreI am soo happy that I’ve found a real, authentic Turkish restaurant here. As a Turkish person living abroad, it is very hard to find real Turkish food and this place cures my homesickness. I love their selection of food. All very tasty! Beyti, Ali Nazik, Hünkar Beğendi, Sote Güveç, Lahmacun all super nice! Their baklava was very tasty too, very balanced sugar syrup 👌🏼 They offer pink humus upon arrival with some crackers, then for starters I recommend “ensalada de berenjenas” (bbqued eggplant+peppers salad), and a second one: you can choose one of these paçanga (salty rolls with cheese and turkish pastırma), içli köfte (meatballs with bulgur and minced meat), or lahmacun to share.
And the main meat dishes. It is very typical to drink “ayran” (a yogurt drink, not sweet, salty) along with meat dishes in Turkish culture, so I recommend ordering that alongside with your main dish. Then finally, I am highly recommending turkish tea “çay” with your desert! I will definitely come back for more, I’ve heard that their Turkish breakfast is also very good, which is my fav thing...
