Genji Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Marbella

If you ever had any Japanese food, this is the one to fake for TOURISTS. After sitting down, no Menü for 10 mins, all sort of wines were not available except the expensive one (the price is even higher than a star restaurant), 3 out of 7 types of fishes were not available, bad attitude of the waiter, simply, one waiter for 10 tables, everyone can image what a long wait for everything could be. The others like Takumi just around the corner was super nice and everything is PERFECT, just never for this restaurant. If any of you ever had sashimi/ raw fish, simply to tell it was NOT FRESH. They claimed that the fishes they got were ordering from a Norway company. Think twice before going there. What a regret and money waste.

Due to the reviews, we paid a visit for a Sat lunch. If I can give MINUS star, I would do so. Sat down 10 minutes without a menu. Restaurant is noisy and 100% UNAUTHENTIC. No hamachi, no toro and no butterfish (3 items out of 7 were not available). Our ordered tuna sashimi was terrible, 1st very fishy and 2nd the tenders in between couldn’t the chewed (as pic). When I showed that to the waiter (he’s from Philippine but looks like a Japanese, not racist to mention that because there might be a few Waiters on shift), he said, „that’s all we have. And the spicy tuna roll will be using the same too.“ therefore we had to cancel both orders. I showed him the pic of those in reviews, he said exactly, „mam, those are 6 months ago pictures and we don’t provide that quality anymore.“ We were shocked and felt trapped, and BE CAREFUL that all the pictures posted by the restaurant, are just for misunderstanding people, because those were NEVER on the menu. I saw many good reviews here, so I wanted to come and try it out. The first thing I noticed was that the male waiter clearly had no desire to work, as he displayed a bad attitude and lacked a sense of customer service. So, the service was immediately a letdown. Additionally, I ordered sashimi, which strangely didn't taste cold and fresh, as if it were of cheap quality. The food took quite a long time to arrive, even though there were only a few tables occupied. I can't imagine how long you would have to wait if the place were full.

I also see other reviews mentioning that the owner clearly can't handle criticism, but this is my experience at this restaurant, and I find it overrated. For the price, this level of service and food quality is not worth it to me. I found this sushi bar while i was visiting Marbella. This place just recently opened. It has a delightful ambiance. The decors and the way their tables and plates are set up are just right and perfect. It gives the place a very welcoming and cozy environment. I looked at the menu and was happy to see their prices. The waiter asked me if i need any drink right away and gave me enough time to look at their menu. Some restaurants make you feel like theyre rushing you. I decided to try their sushi set and tempura mix. I must say, this place serves high quality sushi with very affordable price. I cant believe how fresh their sushi taste like here. The chef definitely knows what he is doing. The staff here were very nice and made sure i didnt wait long to get my food. I will surely come back and bring my family and friends. I think i just found my new favorite sushi spot...
