The restaurant was amazing ! The music was both Japanese and western. The ambience was chilled and the atmosphere was relaxing !!! Nice décor very stylish and modern. The menu was easy to read both on phone and the classic menu book. All the staff and chefs were wearing masks and the tables all clean and well presented... We order white wine which was good and went well with our dinner. The food was almost perfect, one dish which was a meat came out a little under cooked but was still alright could of been better. Everything else was cooked perfectly... The head chef came out and checked up on us which was a sweet touch and thoughtful. They had an outside table so you could go out and have a smoke and come back in and finish your meal. The prices of the dish's are a little bit expensive but worth the price really good quality of food. The plates were well presented too. Generous portions. At the moment the restaurant closes around 10pm due to the lockdown were having in our region in the south of Spain. So come early to enjoy your meal and not to feel rushed to eat & drink. The also do takeaway if you can't finish your meal. And if it's your birthday, your allowed to bring your cake and have it at the end of your meal. They also have complementary chocolate with your bill. Which was nice from the restaurant. The serves was fast from ordering to the food coming to the table. The staff really looked after us & they also spoke both English and Spanish. It was easy to order our food and drinks. We look forward to coming back and to dine in the near future. Thank you for a amazing birthday celebration we felt at the end we were well looked after. Just remember if you want to go to this restaurant reservations are recommended there pretty full...

Nice ambience, excellent service and most foods were top notch in quality and preparation. Amuse-bouche with butter fish ceviche was superb with good balance of citric and the fish. Oysters with ponzu were awesome, a new combination for me, will surely try at home. Crispy prawns also were heavenly, though I would've gone little liter with the sweet sauce there. Tuna tartar: excellent.

Sea bass sashimi wasn't really a sashimi, but a slightly seasoned dish with very little fish and the taste completely underwhelming. Nigiris were good, but not out-of-this-world level good, maybe in top 20 of nigiris I've tried. Chicken gyozas were great and we loves the presentation!

By far the biggest disappointment was the sirloin, which was dry aged, but had a tad rancid taste and smell to it. We did eat it all, but no one on our table thought it to be a particularly good quality or preparation of meet. Waiter at first told that the meet was not aged, so I asked her to ask the chef to have a smell at it, because if not aged it surely would've been bad. She came back telling that indeed it had been aged for 20 days and asked whether we like it. I told that no, we didn't particularly care for it. Never received the chef's comment on the meat.

Desserts were a big success as were the little complimentary sweets. Overall, I would've probably rated Ta-Kumi with 3.5 stars if we had half stars in Google.

We sat at the bar so we could enjoy the preparation of all the dishes. Everything was great and thank you very much! All of the dishes were really exceptional. The dessert was rather weak, but I'm not much into sweets. The service was also very nice and attentive at the beginning, we just felt like they weren't paying much attention to us towards the end. We finished our bottle of wine and water and sat for a long time without any drink. They brought dessert and again didn't notice and didn't offer any more drinks. After the dessert, we waited to pay but the attentiveness of the staff was not there. Eventually the chef noticed and we were able to pay and leave. What we didn't like very much was the waste of ice to service the dishes. A guest at the bar sees one bag after another being opened just to unload a deep plate for sashimi or tuna service. From our point of view, this is a waste and it didn't even look good. But all in all, we had a lovely evening, great food and will certainly be happy to repeat it and recommend the restaurant to...

In September 2024, we had the pleasure of experiencing a culinary highlight at Ta-Kumi restaurant in Marbella. Every dish was exceptionally refined and bursting with flavor, a true testament to the chef’s craftsmanship. The presentation of each course was stunning, showcasing a perfect balance of elegance and creativity. The tasting menu was a true delight for our palates, starting with the delicately prepared scallops, followed by the exquisite Toro tuna tartare with quail egg yolk and truffle. The red prawn sashimi, accompanied by its roasted head, was both innovative and delicious. We also savored the Usuzukuri, featuring finely sliced white fish and sashimi, alongside a wonderful selection of sushi. The black cod with miso and shimeji mushrooms was a standout, cooked to perfection. To finish, the dessert of mango and yogurt was a refreshing and satisfying conclusion to this exceptional dining experience. Overall, Ta-Kumi delivered an unforgettable gastronomic journey, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking top-tier cuisine in Marbella!

Best Japanese food in Marbella, if not the whole South coast of Spain. The service is polite, friendly and professional. Alvaro, who is one of the master-chefs has personality bigger than the work, which translates in to his cooking. Portions have the generosity of a domestic meal, but done to the highest, almost Michelin standards. Really recommend the fish there, any sashimi/nigiri/tataki as they take advantage of the freshness provided by the sea, the butterfish with truffle is a must. The tepan yaki is also great, if meat is more your thing. Yet, my favorite are tempura prawns and asparagus rolls, that are simply divine. The selection of sake is compact and to the point, very well selected. The prices are slightly on the steep side, but that is to be expected from such high quality establishment. Definitely worth it, especially if you are going there for a special occasion. The atmosphere is both casual and romantic. I'd really recommend sitting by the sushi bar as you will get to see masters at work.
