We like to see what others had to say about a place before we go and the positivity and menu selection, plus location made it easy. It's very cozy in location and perfect for a romantic dinner. We were greeted by the husband with the chef close behind him with suggestions of things that were off menu. As soon as she mentioned chicken liver with housemade fruit bread I knew I had to try it. Incredibly silky complimented with tart apple and nuts. We had a little amuse bouche of honeydew melon and prosciutto, and a housemade bread of sour dough with olive butter. Both got ur appetite going and were so well crafted. I had housemade ravioli with king prawn in a light cream pesto. Nothing but lightness and balance. There was the most delicious rabbit, moist and tender accompanied with a ratatouille, spinach, roasted potato and a shallot cream sauce. I drank a glass of red wine that was peppery and full of dark fruit and was perfect with everything. I was very comfortably full but inquired about dessert anyway out of curiosity. The husband said there was Panna cotta. We had to have it! The bottom was the most delicious tart rhubarb and fresh strawberry topped with a perfect cloud of Panna cotta. Truly a hidden secret we wished we had known about before. The best meal we have had in a long time. Cooked with craft and love in every detail. Service and...
Read moreIl Cantuccio is tucked away on one of the hidden paths in the old town of Marbella. Owned and run by the Chef herself, you immediately feel like you’re in your Nonna’s home. But this Nonna is bringing something more to the table; her passion for cooking, ingredients, and sustainability. Every dish we had is notable: her ratatouille was reminiscent of home and still, deserved a platform next to any Michelin version of ratatouille I’ve experienced. Every vegetable sang equally in this chorus as the tomato conducted. Her carrot soup was an explosion of flavor and it only makes sense; to spend hours prepping and cooking a stock that becomes the base of a soup just sets the foundation for yet again, a Michelin level course. Her raviolis were delicate, filled properly to allow the ingredients to shine through, and rested in one of her master sauces that elevated the dish. A lot of love goes into every dish she makes. Her smile makes you feel at home and I certainly look forward to visiting her again soon. If you find yourself anywhere in the Costa Del Sol, this is a stop...
Read moreGenuine cooking with fresh ingredients and full flavours. Bridgette our host is a marvellous chef creating genuine Italian flavours in her kitchen, you could not be disappointed with her dishes.
She brought to the table home made bread and tomato butter, accompanied with home marinated wild mushrooms with shallots. We then shared a baked aubergine as our starter, I then went on to a very special oxtail with buttered mash potatoes, My mother used to cook oxtail and this even surpassed hers.
My wife had saltimbocca all Romana which she will often try as a litmus test for Italian cookery and this passed with flying colours.
We wouldn’t hesitate to take company on another occasion. A Marvellous find that will go down on our perminent todo food in Marbella. Well done Bridgette and well done to your partner who created your...
