La Despensa unfortunately is not worth more than 1 star and reflects the majority of bad restaurants along the Costa del Sol. Being welcomed at the restaurant was already terrible, the reservation wasn´t found and instead of handling it with respect for the other guests, 3 waiters decided to scream over each other to determine which table we were able to get.
That should have been the sign to just turn around and not bother, but unfortunately we sat down. The last person wasn´t even seated yet when a young, very moody waiter already asked us what we would like to drink. Asking him for 2 minutes, the drinks menu and wine list, he decided to stand at the table whilst klicking his pen. Wine and water was ordered. Our glasses were served with their fingers in them and when we asked for glasses for the water, they brought us an additional 10 wine glasses, we were a party of 5 and plonked them at the end of the table.
A different, very impatient waitress then came to the table and wanted to take the food order when we had to tell her that we haven´t even received the menu yet. She ran, gave us the menu and decided to come back 1 minute later to take the order. We asked for more time when she decided to also stay at the table. Food was ordered, all dishes with glossy words. What we received was far from the mouthwatering description. Tasteless, prefabricated, microwaved impudence. The cheapest ingredients, so far away from any italian recipe. How is it possible to ruin a pizza? Well, they did. These places are so lucky to have such a quick turn around in holiday makers, if they would have to rely on regulars, they would have to close within a very short time. So, this is 2, no 10 thumbs down for this experience and maybe the owner has to think about taking his 80´s relic into modern times and serve food that is at...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. From the minute we walked in the door until we left. On arrival the waiter wanted to seat us in an area where people were smoking, we are a family with 3 small kids. We were giving a different table in the restaurant. Our menus were handed to us and within 2 minutes he wanted to know our orders and I explained we weren't ready. Things go from bad to worse now. When he came to take our order he took mine, more guests arrived and he left our table to care for them and seat them before returning to take the rest of the order. When meals arrived mine was wrong and had to be sent back. In the meantime a group of people were seated behind us and were placed so close to us the we physically had to lift our table out of the way to use the toilet as we were back to back with other guests. I finished my meal and my plate was taking away but he also went to pick up one of the children's dinners to take away and I had to explain they weren't finished. He didn't even ask if we were done. When he asked if we wanted to see the desert menu he handed me and my wife one before shoving the others in the kids faces as he was again distracted by talking to people who had walked in the door and wasn't even watching our table. I had to push the menu back to him as he couldn't see that it was right up in our 3yrs old face. At this point we asked for the bill lifted our tables so we could get out and left. I've never come across such an unprofessional waiter in my life. Plenty of better restaurants with staff who care for their customers around the Cabopino area. Safe to say we will...
Read moreI am a restaurant manager in my home country, and I had never experienced such a chaotic and careless service in my life. Last night we went out for dinner, and what should have been an enjoyable evening turned into a complete disappointment because of the way we were treated by our waiter — an elderly man with glasses who completely ruined the experience for us.
From the very beginning, he took an unreasonably long time just to come over, and once he did, it was clear that he wasn’t paying proper attention to us. He seemed confused, uninterested, and even dismissive, as if what we were saying simply didn’t matter. Despite us repeating our order slowly and clearly, he still made several mistakes. To make things worse, our food arrived at completely different times, and we were left waiting nearly 30 minutes for a simple extra order of French fries, which another waitress eventually had to bring because he had vanished and was nowhere to be found.
This meant we also couldn’t order more drinks, leaving us frustrated, thirsty, and ignored while we watched other tables around us being served with smiles and efficiency. By the end, instead of leaving satisfied, we left feeling completely let down and disrespected.
The food itself was good, and overall the restaurant seems capable of providing quick service. But the moment that elderly man with glasses comes to take your order, you should honestly save yourself the frustration — stand up, walk away, and go...
