Grill Caribe — Restaurant in Mogán

Shockingly Disrespectful Service and Uncomfortable Atmosphere DO NOT COME HERE

We had a very upsetting experience at Grill Caribe in Puerto Rico (Gran Canaria), and feel it’s important to share it honestly.

From the moment we arrived, the server was openly rude. He swore at elderly guests, using the only word he seemed to know in our language. There was no respect, no courtesy, nothing resembling professional service.

The restaurant tables were dirty and crooked right next to a road with prices of professional restaurants with great interior.

We also noticed that we were expected to place our own plates and serve ourselves, which was surprising, considering high prices in the restaurant, but the reaction when we asked to split the bill was far worse. The server actually started yelling at us in front of the entire restaurant, as if our request was unreasonable. It was uncomfortable and humiliating.

We also had found a piece of plastic in our food. Instead of approaching our table, the server shouted across the restaurant for us to come to him to discuss it, again with no apology. The chef did later apologize politely, which we appreciate — but the server’s behavior overshadowed everything. We were also not the only ones to complain at that time. After the other guest had complained the server started speaking in Spanish about how he doesn’t like tourists. We had also ordered one paella “for one” and another “for two” (at double the price), but the portions were barely different in size.

To make the situation even worse, a man who claimed he had been coming here for 42 years and was clearly drunk began yelling at us and pointing, while staff did NOTHING to de-escalate the situation. Even worse the server himself started involving other customers in our complaint, seeming completely out of it like he was drunk or high on something.The atmosphere felt hostile. We genuinely considered calling the police because of how uncomfortable and unsafe it became.

This was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Between the disrespect, the hygiene issue, the aggressive environment, and the complete lack of professionalism, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The chef tried to be kind, but the server’s behavior was unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately.

There are many nice restaurants at this island but...

Mixed impressions. 🧐 Tasty food: well cooked chicken breast and sea bass with papas arrugadas. Sangria de cava and cafè leche-leche in our opinion were also good. Speaking about the bill, time for surprises! Garlic chicken breast which we ordered was 11,95€ in the menu but 13,90€ in the bill. Sea bass was 18€ in the words of the waiter who recommended this dish of the day to us; 19,95€ in the bill. One more line “menu 1,85€” lands in the menu out of blue sky - looks like the restaurant taxes a sauce to chicken breast as “extra”; while sauce to papas arrugadas is “included”… P. S. “Service is not included in the bill”, we are told while receiving the bill. Whaaat?!! 😝🙈 Conclusion: trick your client by a couple € three times, and you get 6€ out of thin air. In the end, the aftertaste feels like being treated as stupid or as if carrying a bag full of money… 🥶 P. P. S. The date printed on the bill contributes to the feeling of the restaurant “washing hands” off any possible claim...

🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘 PAELLA HEAVEN 🥘 🥘 🥘 🥘 🥘 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Last night 11/7/2025 my wife & I decided to have dinner at Grill Caribe. My wife had the pork chops which she said were perfect. I had the SEA FOOD PAELLA, freshly & individually made & cooked just for you & ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. This is a small family run business & the fresh food includes Sea Bass. We have walked past this restaurant hundreds of times over the past 10 years & it is very small, but always well supported & the food is excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending Grill Caribe & can honestly say that the SEA FOOD PAELLA is the BEST I have EVER tasted!
