Having visited this restaurant twice a year we were bitterly disappointed on Sunday evening. This was supposed to be a special meal to finish off our holiday. It was also by far our most expensive meal which was not justified at all. We ordered a small tagliatelle which in all fairness was good. A small portion of fillet steak for our 6 year old granddaughter and my husband ordered the Salmon. We ordered a bruschetta for starter . My husband was told the Salmon came with a mustard sauce so he asked for it without the sauce. Our Granddaughters steak arrived with the starter which we didn't ask for. It was so overcooked it was dried out and so were her chips. The presentation was shocking. The Salmon was a tiny portion of 1 piece of bland Salmon and a tiny portion of rice with nothing else on the plate. We got a bottle of house white wine to accompany the meal also. And a Brandy,Amaretto and an apple juice. The waiters were busy fussing over a few tables and appeared not to be interested in us at all. My husband told the waiter the meal was abysmal and he just said ok I will tell them. Where we were sitting I also watched another waiter take 6 new wine glasses out of a cardboard box and didn't wash them and took them to a table people were sitting at . This has always been a go to restaurant for us and I have recommended it to many people but won't go back. The bill was €116. Normally we would have had a dessert but because of how bad it was...
Read moreThere are only a few places to eat in this area. We ate ate Montsemar after day 3 and were blown away by how great the food (and Rioja house red wine), staff, service and atmosphere was here compared to the neighbouring restaurants. Complete walkover! Not only that but cheaper! We had a great dinner here even if we weren’t to compare with its neighbours. Would certainly visit again. Reservations are recommended as we aren’t the only ones that have understood that this place is way beyond...
Read moreWe just got back from 11 wonderful days in Gran Canaria, and we kept going back to Carlos and his team at Montsemar. Fantastic location overlooking the beach, and the food is superb. On different days we had the oven-baked octopus, seared tuna, filet mignon, sizzling entrecôte on a hot stone, lasagne, garlic prawns and many more dishes. Great variety, really tasty and excellent value too. A big thank you to Carlos’s sister-in-law who makes wonderful cocktails including Pina Colada...
