Restaurante La Pequeña Taberna — Restaurant in Murcia

Lovely looking restaurant, outside and in. We didn’t have a reservation but were seated at a table outside but under cover at the back of the restaurant, a outdoor heater, which was too hot for me to sit near, was very adequate in keeping the surrounding area warm, in my opinion (I’m English, a local Spanish lady next to the same heater was chilly and had a her coat on too). We were welcomed in immediately, offered an English menu, staff very efficient in taking orders and speaking to us in English for which we were very appreciative of. Starters were fine, a couple of caballitos, couple of croquetas, my croqueta was still frozen in the middle, but otherwise nice, caballitos were very nice. Murcian salad was very fresh and tasty. Mains: I had salmon with almond sauce, very greasy and oily, potatoes it was served with were literally swimming in oil, salmon was nice, but looked like it had been cooked a few times. My husband chose to have deep fried brains! His verdict was they were absolutely tasteless, no flavour whatsoever, again very oily/ juicy in the middle. We didn’t opt for dessert, a couple of soft drinks and 2 glasses of Cava, the bill was just under €80. The food isn’t worth this, in my opinion. Food was 3/5 (quite greasy and bland, nothing special. Maybe can be considered quite good for a normal lunch place, but not in this kind of "high end" place with the price level this high).

Service was 0/5. I went with my partner. When asked what to drink, the waitress took his order and ignored me. I had to ask separately, then wasn't given a glass for my drink (compared to my partner getting a glass with ice and lemon for his coca cola).

We each ordered a starter and a main dish. His starter came. He finished his starter. My starter didn't come. We had to ask. Then my starter came but was served to him (waitress put it to him and gave him fresh fork and knife) without explaining what dish it was. We thought it was his main course. We had to ask again for my food. Then another waiter came with menu again (after my partner almost finishing two dishes) and explained he ate my starter. It is horrendous how we were treated. The waitress didn't care at all that I had no food in the whole time.

Then we had to wait forever to pay and leave.

The place was very full and loud all the time.

Maybe the waitress had hangover. Or first day at work. Anyway I wouldn't recommend this place. Very...
