We popped in here as the other Italians were full that we wanted to try and saw good reviews for this place. Unfortunately it was extremely average. We walked into a soulless restaurant and stood by the door being ignored for a short while, whilst the staff spoke. We read they had a terrace at the back so asked if there was a table there. The waiter said âI donât know have a lookâ which seemed very odd. Once we then got out there, it was empty so not sure why he didnât know that? Thankfully we did sit out there as it was much nicer than inside. We ordered some starters from the strange waiters who looked like they were serving up grub in a greasy spoon. We had what was described as âCamembert croquettesâ assuming this to be like real Spanish croquettes. We had to laugh though when we were severed 4 cheese melt dippers fresh from the aldi freezer section. We then had 2 pizzas, nothing wrong with them but so average. As Italian food lovers, this place certainly wasnât great. Whilst nothing we ate was horrible, it was just average. It also just had a strange atmosphere and the staff were very un engaging! I wouldnât say donât come here but, just expect a cheap bog standard pizza nothing fancy! I have to say it seemed priced well! Which may reflect the low quality...
Read moreWonderful place, cosy and atmospheric inside with a small terrace at the rear for when it's baking hot. Great, tasty Italian food leaning towards Roman but with other regional Italian options. Crisp pizzas enjoyed by my wife and two boys, amatraciana greatly appreciated by myself. Lovely bottle of red at a very reasonable price. Desserts of lemon gelato, caramel Panna cotta, tiramisu and cheesecake, all excellent, we all tried each others in a best pudding contest and had to award it as a 4-way winner tie (Ok maybe the gelato)
Big friendly welcome from all the staff. Attentive service without being overbearing or rushed, kids made to feel welcome. Situated on a quieter picturesque street in a lovely old building.
You can probably tell we enjoyed it đ
Thanks...
Read moreI got blown out by another restaurant, this was a standby and what a find. Lovely three tiered interior, very Italian looking, all check-tables, brick, imposing fireplaces, etc. Initially, I was a bit disenchanted, my table was tucked in a cupboard space under the stairs, but it perked up once the food arrived, an enormous bruscetta course [I later found out for two] and a beautifully cooked chicken breast in gorgonzola. Friendly staff. I noted people dropping in to say hello or make reservations. Always a good sign. Well done...
