We were seated on a lovely terrace, and had great expectations considering the high rewiews on Google and Facebook. Unfortunately this was not the case at all. Drinks took far too long to arrive, and our starters arrived at the same time as our main course, when I mentioned this to the waiter he just laughed it off. All six of our meals were freezing cold, and the wait staff were so busy and flustered we could not bring this to their attention. The garlic bread was dry, and the steak was like boot leather. The vegetable and rice also cold and wet. We witnessed at least 5 steaks be sent back to the kitchen while we waited for our food.Very worrying. Due to the mediocre at best food that was being continously sent back the wait staff was very stressed and difficult to get ahold of. When I explained the issue with the food to the very lovely waitress she called over her manager, who was extremely rude inconsiderate and basically shrugged his shoulders and told us to get on with it.He didn't even apologise for his poor service. If I'm perfectly frank, the gentleman looked unwashed and didn't smell fantastic. I'd also like to mention that if you are seated on the terrace the food is delivered by a kind of lift, which the food sits in for quite a while (making it cold I suspect) I even saw a waitress stick her fingers on the vegetables to see if they were cold! Ew. The restaurant is not excessively expensive but regardless not worth its money at all. The setting is pretty but it's unfortunately just another tourist trap. Would...
Read moreNot a good experience at all.
Think of the most basic tourist restaurant and then reduce your expectations further.
It's in the middle of a very busy area in Nerja, they get a lot of footfall so can keep going no matter how bad their food is.
Bread was good, it would be difficult to get bread wrong.
I ordered bolognese, not the most difficult dish. What I was served was some basic tagliatelle with mince and gravy. Truly shocking, there was no tomato anywhere, absolutely zero flavour whatsoever. It tasted like it was from a tin. Really really bad meal.
There was also one member of our party who did not receive their main course, we had to notify the waiter (to be fair, he did get this sorted as quickly as he could).
Three members of our party ordered calamari. Nerja is by the sea. The calamari was like rubber rings and was definitely frozen for a while. We sent it back, it was inedible when hot and when cooling down, it got even rubberier.
The only reason this place operates is because the people that come to Nerja come to sit in the sun all day and drink beer. They have no expectation of a good meal in the evening, and so any old rubbish will do. No matter how bad the food is, the sheer number of tourists walking around the area mean they will get some poor...
Read moreAn afternoon visit, so busy but not packed. The location is very good and there are a good few street tables and chairs as well as a sufficient number inside. At this time of year, outside is my favourite.
I sat down outside and it wasn’t too long before I was noticed and my order was taken – a small beer (caña) and a pork strogonoff (Stroganoff de cerdo) tapas. There are 14 tapas on the menu.
It seemed quite a long time, but it was probably only 5 (or 10) minutes before a steaming hot strogonoff arrived. However, my beer actually failed to arrive within a few minutes and I had to remind them!
For my second tapas, Spanish omelette (Tortilla Española), the beer arrived first followed, a few minutes later, by the tapas. A great, and welcome, improvement.
It is a nice, albeit often a busy and touristy, area where you can happily sit and watch the world go by. The tapas are pretty good but the service on this occasion was on the slow side and left a bit to be desired. Beer with tapa (small caña) is €2.20.
Overall, a pleasant place to while away a bit of time whilst enjoying a cool beer (other drinks are available) or two and...
